Ricciardo should've stayed at Red Bull. Sure, Max was beating him and the crash at Baku wrecked their relationship, but come 2021 he might've been in the WDC fight. Who knows, he could've pulled off a Kimi 2007 had Max & Lewis clashed more often

The way he walks around with that stupid smile even when he fails the team is nauseating.

It just seems weird to see him carrying a jovial demeanour when he is getting destroyed by Norris

I understand what McLaren doing but there is also some part of me which doesn't understand them. First of all Piastri is a rookie who is going up against one of the best drivers on the grid in Norris, which will be very tough for him. However Piastri is a very big talent but I think we will se Piastri challenge Norris a bit more in his second season at the team. The level Ricciardo is performing at at the moment is bad, and I think Piastri will perform better than that in his first season, but I don't think he will be like a lot better than Ricciardo in his first year. And then if that's going to be the case you can wonder if its really worth for Mclaren to get rid of Ricciardos contract when you look at how much money that will cost. And maybe Ricciardo can somehow improve and show his worth. On the other hand I think McLaren has reached a point where all that negative talk about Ricciardo just gets too much, and it's better to have a new young driver who over time can challenge Lando a lot. But I mean Gasly could also be a great option for 2024 if they kept Ricciardo for one season more. But as I said at the beginning I understand McLaren but im also a bit conflicted about this.

While I agree Danny definitely isn’t up Lando’s pace in this car, I think he is a fair bit closer this year than last year despite the data. The data doesn’t take into account bad strategic calls with tyres , drs trains or team orders. He’s definitely closer on race pace, it seems to me DR loses the tyres quicker though. But I still think a lot of this is just the car doesn’t suit his driving style. I do admit some drivers adapt better then others to different cars. Because if you think Lando is actually 7-8 tenths quicker then you also think the 2020 Renault was a full second quicker then the 2020 Mclaren

It still puzzles me why Riccardo couldn’t get a handle on The Mklaren car . Sure , he left R.B. and went downhill.

The same was said about Vettel. Was it the car that elevated his talents or did he elevate that car to victories?

You said Daniel Ricciardo has not been unfairly treated by McLaren. Yet you do not present any argument to support your statement? I would like to suggest that McLaren has failed Daniel Ricciardo. I believe that there are a bunch of factors that have resulted in this situation. I will present what I believe is the story. When Carlos announced his leaving I am confident that Zak Brown gave Daniel the big sell and promised him the world. Even the contract was massively in Daniels favour. Zak Brown had massive expectations. Now Daniel got to drive the car and could not go fast straight out of the gate. I believe that Zak Brown quickly decided that he had made a mistake signing Daniel. Daniel is not assertive and probably did not show his experience and express his true feelings about the car. I say that because of what Cyril had to say about him. Jenson Button has made comments about how much it is a mental thing. Now you also must understand that he left Red Bull because of the team situation around Verstappen. Finding himself in the exact same situation has probably not helped him at all. So I believe that McLaren paid a fortune for him and like you believe that performance is the sole responsibility of Daniel Ricciardo and not the the team as a whole. My understanding is that they tried to coach him to drive the same way as Lando and used Lando’s telemetry to point out where Daniel was losing time. I think the biggest mistake was not changing the car to suit their highly paid and more experienced driver. Basically they screwed Daniel over. They made him think that joining McLaren would give him the opportunity to lead them back to the front. Yet because he underperformed the first few races they judged him to be slower than Lando and abandoned him. All the promises were now broken. Daniel had little influence and was now expected to just drive as fast as Lando and help the team score points. Daniel was not there to help them come 4th in the constructors he was there to bring McLaren to the top and win races or so he was led to believe at the time he signed on. Instead of writing him off so early they should have made him feel safe to express his true views on the car and followed his lead on the direction the development needed to go. Instead they jumped ship to Lando and then whinged about Daniels poor performance for two years.

I presented the arguments in the data I showed on screen. You can't be consistently that much slower than your team mate and get away with it for this long + we haven't seen improvement from last year to this year. Just because I didn't say 'this is why he has only himself to blame' does not mean I didn't present evidence or anything at all proving why he has only himself to blame

@@chazzahd9277 so what you are saying is that Lando is about 3 to 5 tenths faster than Verstappen. After 18 months this must be Daniels natural pace. I haven’t checked but I guess he was about 2-3 tenths within Verstappen or Red Bull would not have wanted to re-sign him. Lando is about 7 tenths faster than Daniel. So he must surely be 3-5 tenths faster than Verstappen right. The numbers don’t lie.

Ricciardo should be acquired by Ferrari. Italian heritage all the way. And that’s what they value to most.
