Whats the point of closer racing if then the slipstream is even weaker and you still need DRS because you cannot put your car alongside another at the end of the straight to try and get the overtake on the braking or while cornering. In motogp the first 10 guys are often in the same tenth, and in a lot of races you can see them switching positions constantly. Idea for replacing DRS: A mandated push to pass button which is always gives X percent more horsepower. Teams can decide themselves if they want the baseline tune to be more or less conservative. If they're more conservative then the push to pass mode can be run for a long time but the regular mode becomes a bit useless. If the baseline tune is already pretty on the limit then you want to limit your use of push to pass when it is strictly necessary. During qualifying they always run this mode which is then fixed for the entire weekend. I think this reduces the gimmick factor since the teams are back in control of when they apply it and it provides a tradeoff between the possibility of grenading your engine or having an easier time overtaking. What do you guys think?

what i always love is how the engines go to the highest rpm of the year
@anthonyschroeder5212 жыл бұрын
This actually misses the most important historical reason overtaking was a challenge. Gearing. F1 cars run too short of gears at Monza because this is the only track that would benefit, but others have better traction and acceleration using shorter gears elsewhere, so the top speed limitation at this track in particular is not aerodynamic, but mechanical. As the top speed has nothing to do with the aerodynamica of the car (or dramatically less so), decreasing the drag of the package doesn't help overcome the literal limitations that the cars are running peak rpm at 8th gear and just are not allowed to run faster due to engine/transmission damage risks. Toto has come flat out and said it that they could go a lot faster at Monza, but then they would suffer everywhere else, and this is also why Monza of all tracks shows the least progress from the 80/90s cars.

the gearboxes are governed by max and minimum gear ratios, and can not be changed without making a new spec gearbox, and thus requiring to run that one as well including the penalty that comes with it. overall i think they'd rather the rev limiter over 5+ grid drop and loads of time for making that different gearbox, if they even can in the first place.

I have a sneaky feeling alonso is going to create a drs train of 7 cars then pit for hards then get podium finish while ferrari amps up their power for the home race and the blow up or bottle it in the first chicane and max does a zandervoort and finishes the race 50 minutes ahead of everyone because he's a Lewis Hamilton in Brazil last year and is a maniac for speed and a champion and then albon does a jet flyby and buzzes the tower to score some topgun points in his f-14 tomcat and then suddenly comes George with the struggling car to third while lando has his own race with vettel doing his own thing and we all cheer on vettel and expect mick to do something amazing so we keep him next year and watch Daniel in 17th place sadly :( that's how I think this race will go or a red flag because Yuki gets ahead of himself bless him. Tell me what yall think😂

The only way Max doesn't win at Monza is if someone takes him out in the same way he took out himself and Lewis at Monza last year.

I am not a Ferrari fan, but I do hope they get their act together this weekend and at least put up a good fight.

If I was a team like Mclaren I'd overclock the engine by 5% for qually/race and go for it. I'd rather fight for a podium 1 week and start from the back of the grid the next week. I have a feeling that all Merc powered teams might struggle to make q3. Well Merc might make it but I think it'll be closer than usual. Max will win this race by 45 seconds if there's no safety cars and he doesn't slow down toward the end to minimize risks. Lack of straight line speed has to be the most frustrating thing. Makes overtakes, even with drs open, near impossible.

No, team orders helped certain someone to take victory last year. In return he gained staggering 32 points in remaining 8 races that year.

Bold predictions: Ferrari will win with Carlos sainz, verstappen leads most of the race but an unexpected slow pitstop puts him behind to finish p2 with fastest lap, Perez will finish p3 with Merc securing p4 for hamitlon and p6 for russel. Norris will slot into that p5 gap while Alonso and ocon secure p7 and p8. Ferrari completely mess up leclercs race finishing p9. Taking the last point will be valteri bottas.

DRS Does WORK. Otherwise, Drs Zones would be increased + Longer😶 If your right Matt, Then cars should be Allowed to Use DRS Earlier After Turn 7 Before Start/Finish Line😉

If max doesn’t win this weekend in a car 10-15mph faster than the next fastest then that’s just embarrassing for red bull

Speed and quickness aren't the same thing; in some races this year, the fastest cars were backmarkers.

If Max's car doesn't go wrong he wins far and away. I think the real question is, 'What new Ferrari blunder will happen this weekend?'.. I so can't wait for the end of the year compilation of this ridiculousness.
