Leaving Redbull aside. I think he should’ve never joined McLaren. I get hindsight but it’s not as if McLaren at the time were that much better than Renault. He banked on them getting better faster (which they did but without him). Also I THINK him leaving sent a wrong message to the already problematic Renault board. They were on a nice little trajectory & had he stayed & just nurtured the team around him some more & keep putting the results, Maybe, just maybe Renault or whatever tf they want to call themselves would’ve been better off rn. It’s a shame. Again I’m just using my sidekick brain looking from the outside

Did Marco just say they let Ricci race to Singapore to contractually keep the jank commercial deals with the junior team for Texas & Las Vegas? Some of those commercial partners reportedly objected to Riccardo’s dropping during the Singapore weekend, but presumably it wasn’t possible for them to change this at that point. Sounds like Lawson’s contract small print, (dis)organised by Marco, is the controlling factor here. Another day another Red Bull clusterfudge 😹
