Nice swatches Vee! I have the DS EF Brown IO, and it is reallt so pretty. I love the cool undertones and granulation. PBr6 are synthetic iron oxides vs PBr7 natural iron oxides. The synthetic colors can be controlled by the amount of hydrated vs non-hydrated are mixed together, so there will be lots of differences between manufacturers. DS gets their supply from a company that does mine cleanup and remediation, hence the EF designation. They take the contaminated mine tailings and water supplies and treat them to remove the metals. They sell the pigments to help with recovering costs. Because PBr6 is lab made, the particle size and color is pretty uniform, and can be “purer” than natural forms.

Red Iron Oxide is one of my favorite colors to mix skin tones with. I love adding white until it's a pale pastel tone which matches my own ghostly skin xD That and some burnt Sienna, I can mix so many skin tones with them. It's really a useful color!

My favorite of the trio is the red iron oxide, kinda like an indian red that’s more transparent, i too buy the white nights mars brown thinking it was similar to schmincke mars brown but alas its have a very strong yellow undertone, and the schmincke one has a redder undertone

I’ve got the Schmincke Horadam Mars Brown PBr6. Compared with your swatches it looks most like your Raw Sienna PBr7, definitely nothing like the two on the right. It’s not really granulating in my opinion.

Hi there. I don't mean to make an argument, but what exactly is the environmental friendliness of these particular colours? All Earth colours are by default more environmental friendly. My point is that we are not talking about completely different kind of pigments as for example those that contain Cadmium and those that they don't. If this or any other company wanted to be really environmentally concerned would have had stop using toxic pigments in its paints in the first place. Would have stopped the production of such paints. Not to mention that the environmental damage occurs by the packaging too, the aluminum tubes that are the same, the printing on the tubes, the carton boxes , the distribution generally speaking from the manufacturing factory to the final customer. When we buy constantly new stuff and particularly if we are doing so online we are doing the most environmental unfriendly thing we can possibly do. Because someone has to package securely all the stuff that we order, for shipping in boxes and papers and wraps and send it sometimes from thousands of miles away from our home. Anyway... these are very decent paints, but I personally don't fall for the environmental claims because claims and labels don't actively protect the environment.

@@PaintinHiding I'm glad you agree and you didn't misunderstood my comment, because I'm not any kind of super fanatic environmentalist and I don't mean to spoil your video with my comment. It is just that I 'm sick and tired seeing companies that exploit our concerns in order to sell more products that most of the times don't contribute to the cause of protecting the environment. They are full of marketing gimmicks and no actions. If Daniel Smith does indeed mean to protect the environment it has to cease the production of cadmium based paints. Then I will definitely believe them and I will support them.

@@creativecolours2022 of course! polite healthy discussions and debates are always good in my opinion. everyone gets informed and educated, win win. it's the derogatory comments that i can't deal with. you were polite and respectful so thank you very much for that. i didn't say much because i'm not one to dig deep when it comes to these things but you really made me rethink of HOW are these colours supposedly more environmentally friendly than their counterparts. definitely something to ponder on more about. :)
