Maimeri is the surname of the artist Gianni Maimeri. He and his brother Carlo founded the company. Their watercolor "Blu" has become even better after they updated the whole range 4 years ago to be monopigment. I would like to try their Mars Brown, I have one by White Nights and it's too gold for me. Btw I think Mars is pronounced mɑː(r)z. Thank you for the review and comparison.

Schmincke was already on my list but after seeing all three side by side I really like all of them for completely different reasons!

What’s a good alternative color? Saw could mix ultramarine w burnt Sienna to get close but by photos hard to see which other color it leans. Ty.

I am loving the Maimeri the most! Wow. The name is simply the family surname of the founder.

I don't know much about Maimeri Blu paints yet, but I love that Mars Brown! Looking at their website, they have several interesting browns and reds. Their Dragon's Blood (PBr 25) might be fun, and their Rose Potter looks like it might be a pretty dark and pigmented Potter's Pink. They seem to have this odd habit of labeling everything with their highest lightfastness rating, even their genuine Indigo (!), so I wouldn't rely on their lightfastness info. But I definitely want to try that Mars Brown of theirs.

(I've watched your Potter's Pink video a few times and yet forgot that you have shown us the Maimeri Blu version. It is nice but not my favorite of the ones you swatched.)

Unfortunately having the brand do their own lightfastness testing isn't always a good thing, however earth colors tend to be highly lightfast across the board.

I've thought of getting the pbr25 as it seems to be quite popular but I love the Holbein one I have. I haven't even tried the Daniel Smith.
