A Boston news network has a regular feature called "Wednesday's Child" which introduces an orphan who is looking for a family, provides a brief profile of his or her interests, personality, and what he or she hopes for in a family. I don't know what the success rate is, but it is just what Tosh is suggesting (not the pen, of course!).

Yeah where I live in Tx one of our local news stations has something similar on called "the gift of love" and has kids in foster care looking for adoptive parents. The also have some kind of " ___ day" at the courthouse where they legalize X amount of adoptions every year

Tosh is completely right about people's selfish obsession to give birth vs adoption. Millions and millions of children are waiting to be adopted and instead, people will spend so much time and money trying to fix their fertility, just so they can make a little clone of themselves.

Also, there's 8 billion of us. It's the 21st century. There's no imperative to 'continue your lineage' biologically. Pumping out more humans does not fix the adoption issue. Adopting does.

People look for children up for adoption here, the problem is that every single one of them seems to have some problem that people just can't deal with. I've checked NUMEROUS times, and every case seems to have temperament or medical issues that are guaranteed to costs 10s of thousands. Long story short, in my state of Alaska the adoption itself is VERY cheap, usually less than 2000, but baggage included, you better be fucking rich because it's cheaper to just have a child at that point.
