Voice actors don't usually do recordings together unless they're in scenes, and the scenes are never done in order to avoid giving away what the production is for (if I'm not mistaken, Eveline or Mia's VA - who is also in this game - wasn't even aware she was working on RE7 until the final few days of her recording). It's entirely possible that the scene with Ethan and the BSAA doctor on the phone was done very early on before any midproduction changes, or was intentional just to make things vague. Nicole mentioned how Elena had many different scenes and alternate dialogues that were cut from the final product, so changes are definitely expected.

We've never had voice actors or facial actors actually get into their games or support their games after lunch or anything like that not that I know of anyway and yet this is all I see coming from the Resident Evil voice actors and motion capture actors and Resident Evil KZbinrs. You guys are all like one big family with all the interviews you do with each other and collaborations it's like you guys are on a mission to keep Resident Evil alive and kicking. Feel like there was *something* missing from the scenes with the villagers. I believe the devs wanted to just hammer home how alone the Player/Ethan is in this village. I thought Leonardo's lycan transformation was foreshadowing for a potential Chris infection (the box art really got me thinking Chris was gonna be a werewolf lmao). Elena was gone too soon, seems like a lot of characters share that trait in this game - gone before you know it.

I just realized that big red door the old hag closes behind you in the beginning is the only door in the game that Ethan is never allowed to unlock after that cut scene. There's no way reopen it, you are forced to use the wing key and get in the other way later on
