Every time I watch Daniel’s instructional videos, I cannot stop praising in my mind his outstanding skills as a teacher. While most other instructors on KZbin are actually talking to themselves by showing you “if I want such and such, I can do such and such,” Daniel is thinking through his viewers and illuminating their minds. Honestly, I can do better and save some time by reading the 4,000 page Blackmagic manual than spending time on watching most instructional videos on KZbin. But Daniel is a totally different story. He does not only show me what to do, but also tells me what is in, out, and behind. His analogy of guitar playing clicks immediately on me as a musician myself.

@@Daniel_Batal I'm working on this tutorial now and decided I wanted to start over to practice the steps again. When I tried to delete the keyframes I ran into a veritable s--t storm of troubles. I've tried everything, including ChatGPT, which can be helpful at times, but the more I try the worse it gets. This is the most difficult part of Resolve IMO. When things go wrong, they go REALLY wrong. I'm gonna delete my project and start from the beginning. If you know of a good video out there that deals with Fusion keyword weirdness, please direct me to it. Failing that, might you be persuaded to take us on a deep dive through keyword features and issues in Fusion? TIA

Love hearing that! I still think the Fusion Page is incredibly intimidating! I’ll do my best to make more videos to tackle more of the scary parts

Daniel, I got 12 minutes into video, at that point instead of a black screen in Fusion I get the 2 shades of gray screen (alpha color?). BTW, you’re a great teacher! And a rocker to boot! Awesome! Johnny Gero (LA area)

hmmm.... let's see here. Make sure your two nodes are properly connected. 1) if you go up to the upper right of the preview window there are 4 icons. The 4th one will say "Viewer" if you hover on it and if you click it, it will give you a single preview window instead of two. That's how I was working in this tutorial. 2) Your MediaOUt1 node has a little drop down underneath it with two dots. It's built for a 2 preview window display layout. Left dot activates the left window, right dot activates the right window (or single window if you're only using one preview window). Make sure you click the dot on the right and that will put the output in the main display. 3) With the background node selected, go over the inspector in the upper right and at the very bottom under the Background drop-down menu you'll see a slider for "Alpha". If the slider is set all the way to the right, you should see the default color (black) in the preview window. If you slide it all the way to the left, you'll see the checkerboard pattern, which means you've made the background transparent. Something I actually do at the end of this video. You can work either way. I just left it black so everyone could see the text easier as I was working in this live stream

Thanks Daniel!! But my fusion background node does not default to black, instead displays checkerboard. Ugh! BTW, I’m a keys player! Rock on!

Just slide the Alpha under the background controls in the Inspector all the way to the right (value 1.0) That will give you full default color in the background.

Thanks so much Daniel. I was getting confused with the whole thing. But this video and the other one on keyframing have been very helpful. Now I understand keyframing perfectly. We know it as "automation" in audio engineering. With the background you've given me in Fusion, I'm excited about the things I'll be creating 😀

Great to hear! I can remember when automation was “Total Recall”
