I got my first magnet about a month ago, it was a 150lb from a hardware store and wouldnt bring up much more than hooks and bb pellets. Got a 900lb a couple weeks ago and that sucker pulls up all kinds of cool things! I've found lots of pliers, knives, brand new fishing lures and it also pulls out trash from the local "trash pond" that is pretty much a dumping ground for the neighborhood. We've found chairs, signs, pipes to the old dock, lots of beer cans, springs, bike tires, and lots more! Its definitely a different hobby but all of the fishermen we encounter think its super cool and are always impressed by what we pull out!

The nails are welding rods! The round black thing is a limb rig for fishing it's like an unattended fishing rell you tie in a tree limb to catch big catfish I think! I use a magnet out of a MRI machine that was scrapped! Have one mounted to the wall and you can throw a 24 inch pipe wrench from across the room and it will catch it! . It's awesome!

Even a suspicious bed sheet! Sure it was used in a murder! LOL. Well, it’s fun to be a pretend detective! Had a skateboard on, but it got away from us! We love magnet fishing!! First magnet - 330 lbs double-sided (660 lbs total). I still use this magnet, especially on rocky bottoms as it doesn't get stuck. Second magnet - 880 lbs single-side. Great magnet for "dipping" from a bridge or dock. Third magnet - 880 lbs double-sided (1760 lbs total). Great magnet for "dragging" along the bottom. This one is quite heavy and harder to throw. By the way - I don't think those were electrical power lines but communications instead (phone, internet, etc.) as they appeared to be a single strand support cable with insulated wires wrapped by a spiral of thin wire to keep it all together. Plus the fact that electric wires would have been strung higher so someone with a fishing magnet wouldn't hit them from the bridge!

7:39 I think that is a auto-fishing device, commonly called a yo-yo, widely used in the south, at least in states where it is legal. A reel with fishing line, attached with a clockwork spring to a backing plate. A line on the backing plate is used to tie it to a dock or limb above the water. The fishing line is baited and pulled out, winding up some tension on the spring, and the bait is dropped into the water. The fishing line passes through a trip mechanism on the edge of the backing plate, so that when a fish is hooked is pulls the line loose and is played by the spring until exhausted. Typically you might put out anywhere up to a couple dozen of them, and check them every few hours to collect the catch. Not much sport to it, of course, but a good way to quickly collect a mess of crappie or smaller catfish, if you can get to them before the turtles do. Go to Google Images and look up "White's Auto Fisher''.
