I respect Ben for calling Dana out - everyone, deep down, no matter what they think they believe, knows that Merab has been the champion of his division for a long time now. Guy is on a 10-fight winstreak - a complete warpath and could've been 3-4 title defenses in by now if this sport was actually about determining who the best fighter is and not the most sellable. But for Merab to never get to have a belt wrapped around his waist while literally being the best in the world right now is just criminal and a disservice to this sport - any true fan should agree.

Ilia should do what Jon Jones did. He should run through a bunch of old guys to boost his record. He could surpass Jones if he cleans out the doofers faster and starts on the unripe fighters sooner. Max, Volk, Zombie, Ortega, Yair, Emmet, etc. No one will care if he has already beaten the guy or if the opponent was dragged out of retirement. I know you love Max, we all do but he doesn’t deserve the fight next, nobody does outside of Volk. You lost your belt to Stipe and wanted an immediate rematch and got it and Volk has been a dominant champion since 2019 so if there is ever a person that deserves an instant rematch it’s Volk. So the conversation should be simple it’s Volks rematch unless he isn’t ready to fight then they can look to the next guy till Volk is ready. I’m a firm believer in you have to let divisions keep moving forward, but you also have to respect dominant champions because now it’s so rare, those who clear out their division. They have earned something you can’t deny them
