My favourite magical item is the "Oath rod". It's a good example on how the Aes Sedai don't know about stuff from the age of legends. In the age of legends they were called "Binders" and were used as a form of punishment and were fairly common. The binder in the white tower had the number 3 on it while Sammael had a binder with the number 111 on it which suggests that they were quite common in the age of legends.

Lol I would have never thought of him as Lan but after watching the John Wick movies I could see him playing Lan. Dude is dedicated to learning to actually do the things his character does. Watch the videos of him training for John Wick. The weapons expert that trained him said there is no actor better with guns than Keanu Reeves and he learned at least some king fu for The Matrix movies. He doesn't like having body/stunt doubles.

We have to take into account that the series is probably going to go on for at least 10 years counting from the first casting to the last take of the last season. With that in mind the casting should focus on 17-20 year olds, so that they can mature over a decade while the time within the show is only three years.

The thing that i really like about WoT's magic system is the connection beetwen Aes Sedai and their Warders. I think that really made the whole series more interesting and sometimes emotional and its just one of many unique things i love about WoT. Btw my favorite item is Matt's fox head medalion. Is it bad I see Jeremy Irons as a good 'The Dark One' or Shaidar Haran? In answer to this weeks question, the variation of the magical environment is absolutely amazing, aside from the relative uniformity of Saidin and Saidar across the books (with some slight cross-overs), the fact that the system is not restricted - aside from power, education and arguably subtlety, and is equally defined by variations as seen in Perrin, Matt and Min (for example), it means that so many elements stand out and work fabulously. Point of Fact however, the connection to the wolves, which directly threatens individulality and ones humanity but also allows communication (which is done amazingly well) and again, another variation in the structure of Tel'aran'rhiod, means for me that 'the Wolf-Brother' is probably my favourite aspect of the magical system.

My favorite part would be the scientific nature of the One Power, in both its use and study. It has a very alchemical/chemistry feel to it in many ways, such as the combining of different ratios and orders of water/fire/earth/air/spirit to achieve a wide variety of results. As a chemist, it really brings to mind for me the feel of a forced chemical reaction. You could use the same chemicals for a dozen different experiments, but the amounts and order of use will give completely different outcomes. I really enjoyed the times Elayne is studying artifacts, Nynaeve's healing, etc. There is also the shared need for caution and safety measures while studying unknown weaves or artifacts, as with unstable/unknown chemicals and reactions.

hey! you should for sure look into the Ascendance trilogy! I read it in middle school and loved it. I'm not sure that it is fantasy but more of fantasy adventure? it doesn't have any magic its more of a horse and sword type deal. it is a YA trilogy so it may not be as mature as your favorites but it is a very fun and smooth read that I think you would enjoy!

Didn’t Daniel Day-Lewis announce his retirement from acting after The Phantom Thread? In most things I don’t care about race/skin color in casting; but I have to say that when it comes to something like WoT, I feel as though it’s more important to help tell the story. Culture and ethnicity are a big part of WoT and there are so many options for people of every ethnicity to have a strong character, that changing it up just to be politically correct seems dishonest to the story. I think Mads Mikkelsen would make a better Rhuarc anyway. His stoic performance in Valhalla Rising made it an easy choice for me. I’m sorry I missed the original video where you asked for these comments! I have strong opinions, as everyone else does, I’m sure. 😅 Loved seeing other people’s choices!

I think some of the older actor picks for younger characters were probably meant as them in their prime. You know, "in a perfect world" Spoilers for the Memory of Light (maybe a little earlier.) Anyway, my favorite aspect of the magic system is the special "knack" certain people have. It brings an aspect to the system I really enjoy. My favorite probably being Androl and his knack for gateways. Even though he is technically too weak to open gateways, he can, and ends up using them like no one has thought of before to devastating affect. Also his and Pevara's (I think her name is) relationship was the best to me, especially after the double bonding

Your list seems quite specific (eg your casting of the Trollocs/Loial Ogier in wide shots) with many of the actors not even having a wiki page. One of them (Bill Kolivas) doesn't even come up with an imdb page (or anything else for that matter). SO the question I have is, is this some inside leaked preview of the actual cast? The common mistake is going with big names for these characters...they need to go with lesser knowns for the majority, and save the A-listers for major players that only appear sparingly. I do like Rachel Weisz as Moiraine though.

I'm going to choose a relatively unknown actor(some may have heard of him) for Rand al'Thor: George MacKay. Sure he may be a little too old, but I watching him in 1917 go through so much crap reminds me of Rand. You really believe he is in turmoil in when crawling through the floating bodies and has an emotional breakdown afterwards. So heart-wrenching. I can see him do something similar when Rand is struggling with the taint. That's my two cents. I'm honestly surprised scrolling through these comments and not seeing MacKay's name. He has lots of range and I want to see more of him.

Hugh Jackman as Lan. We need a badass to play a badass. Not that Viggo isn't a badass, he is one of my all-time favorite actors, I just don't see him as Lan but I would love him to be in the show some way. And Alexander Ludwig (Bjorn in Vikings) as Perrin? He is the right height, 6'2 and solid enough. Give him a brown shaggy mop wig and he'd be great for Perrin, for me. And Sean Bean for Ishamael? He cut his teeth playing a villain and he would be perfect for him.

I did see him as Wolverine, and yes, he was all that stuff, but he wasn't a total badass, especially when you think about people like Clint Eastwood (who I am not suggesting) in everything from Dirty Harry to Gran Torino, or Mel Gibson in Mad Max and Lethal Weapon. I'd even put forward that Tom Hardy is much more of a Bad Ass

I wish there was more info about specific items. The tree of life has always been something of fascination for me. Like this was an example of how the power is maybe used indirectly by plants and trees like the tree of life. I mean they say not all powers stem from the one power, like talking to wolves.

The sa'angreal and ter'angreal are like the missiles/jet bombers/tanks of today. The choedan kal and sakarnen seems to be overwhelmingly powerful but since the question is what is your favorite weapon. Therefore, I have to say the favorite weapon is Vora's Sa'angreal and I know that some sa'angreal like callandor, choedan kal, Sakarnen etc are much more powerful but it was Vora's Sa'angreal in the hands of Egwene al vere that defeats the Seanchan invasion of the white tower and it was the very weapon that was used in the last battle again by Egwene to counter the effects of balefires by creating the flame of Tar Valon (forgotten weave) and preventing the world by excessive use of balefires. It is the most important weapon in the whole 'wheel of time' universe.

12:39 Yes, Daniel Greene cast as Olver. It has been decided! Unbeknownst to Daniel, the Wheel of Time's Casting Director sees the video. He is inspired (mostly because he was stoned & like all Casting Directors is a sadist) and convinces the producers to offer a contract to Daniel as Olver. Daniel ends up caving and signs on because of his enormous student loan debt. Eventually, the first sentence on Daniel Greene's Wikipedia biography page says "...mostly known as Olver in the television adaptation of "The Wheel of Time". Scrolling further it talks about Daniel's struggles with drinking...brought upon a cycle of shame & self-loathing for being known as Olver, the most detested television character since Joffrey Baratheon & Hannah Montana.

Fain my pick is also Robert Carlyle. Check out a couple of episodes of Once Upon a Time. Robert Carlyle is Rumpelstiltskin. He's amazing, I watched the show primarily for him. I'm hoping most of the cast is pulled from The British Isles, Europe and other countries. America just doesn't have the same talent pool as Hollywood is more about looks than talent.

For Tuon, I think someone from Black Panther is the right, but wrong pick from the movie. Shuri, or Letita Wright fits much better, if she's willing to cut her hair. As described by Mat, she has a petite body, but visible curves when you look closer. And she's badass in Black Panther, don't know if she can manage the stoic nature of Tuon tho
