As a Kiwi, I can also confirm that Daniel was there. NZ is a very small place, so you can't walk down the street without going through Tim's living room. Needless to say I was very surprised when I saw Daniel just chilling and watching season 2 of this godly show.

"Your mind would be the same" I actually just talked about this over on Bluesky this morning, but it absolutely would not. People who talk about this stuff always ignore just how much of your personality is based on hormones. You are a different person when you're hungry. Horny. Tired. When your adrenaline is high, when your adrenaline is low, when your cortisol is high or low, etc. The impact that hormones have on who you are cannot be overstated.
@vaidasmasys3764
@vaidasmasys3764 Күн бұрын
I 100 percent agree. But hormone activity could also be simulated as well perhaps. It would only be simulated so that a human would think like a human and not like a machine that is based on human memories. So UI's in Pantheon I assumed did that kind of simulating because they were emotional.
@dcgamers
@dcgamers Күн бұрын
In the show they mention that all the SIs have completely simulated bodies. It's not just their minds, it's the whole deal. So hormones would be included.
@Jhaldmer
@Jhaldmer 16 сағат бұрын
You are your body, if your body don’t exist, you do not exist. Uploading yourself to the digital world is just creating a digital clone. You need to belive that souls exist and they are tangible things to be convinced of something like that is actually you.
@VeritatisQ
@VeritatisQ 10 сағат бұрын
The thing is that to prove to ourselves that uploading your mind would be a 1:1 transfer, we'd first have to demonstrate that we could _make_ a full-on human from scratch that could reproduce because that is the only reliable proof we have that they're a reliable human. Then we could use that same code to simulate a physical body. I believe in "souls", whatever that means to you personally, so this whole thing would be quite complicated. Could we create beings from scratch that are so complex and intelligent that they would have their own souls?

I truly enjoy obeying the law and watching shows through legal means by applying for residency in New Zealand and by acquiring shows in absolutely no other way, shape, or form. I fully support and enjoy the corporate process of television production, and I hope that more shows will have exclusive releases in brave new locations such as Antarctica.

A Big Tech-critical show about *selfish factions ruining something for everyone as they fight over who gets to control it* being dismembered and denied an audience the way it was is too ironic for words. Somehow, despite it all, it turned out to be a genuinely very good piece of science fiction. Highly recommended! If you can *"send a clone to New Zealand"* it's well worth it! It's not like there's a legitimate alternative.

I’ve been a huge fan since the channel started and it’s what got me into reading and finding out how much I love reading horror and fantasy. Lately I’ve been going through a rough patch in life so I’ve been drowning myself in reading (found the poppy war and am obsessed with it now reading the second book) and it’s insane to me that I wouldn’t have this hobby that lets me forget stressful things in life without this channel. Not only did I fall in love with reading but it’s also helped me learn because I was always a terrible reader and now I can definitely say I’m above average and it’s something I’m proud of. Sorry for the long message but I really wanted to thank you, you’re the best.💪

So literally just go download it, lmao. I don't even consider it unethical at this point, because there is no other way to watch it. Coincidentally recently watched this series. First season is on Netflix, had to "download" the second one. Bro, it's absolutely BRILLIANT. I'm so happy to see you talk about it so a wider audience gets to see this. Because it seems to me the show never got the recognition it should have had. It's one of the best sci fi shows I've ever seen. I watched this after eating truffles. When I found out it was by Ken Liu, who's name I recognized as the guy that translated three body problem (if I'm not mistaken). I decided his name was going on my TBR and I had to read some of his books now. Because holy f the show is well written

She literally creates billions upon billions of sentient beings who experience tremendous suffering - billions of hitters, Dalmers, countless victims of the most heinous crimes imaginable - all in an attempt to recreate the real world as accurately as possible just to bring back her loved ones.

I can't tell you how long I've been waiting for someone to rave about this show as much, if not significantly more than me. Watched this show as it was airing and lost count of the amount of times I've audibly gasped per episode. I do remember that there was an upload error during season 2 that made it a bit difficult to watch. The problem being that episodes aired out of order. Truly believe this is one of the best sci-fi shows I've seen in a long time, aside from The Foundation which is a bit of a guilty pleasure for its visuals.

Yes. I have been a Pantheon fan since day 1. It's my second favorite show ever. I watched s2 weeks after it came out. Im so glad people are finally seeing and talking about this show again. It has so many interesting themes, compelling characters, emotional moments and overall excellent animation. In my personal opinion, s1 is perfection and season 2 is flawed but still very good. Spoilers. My criticisms of s2. These are mostly nitpicks. 1. I had issues with the main romance in s2. I liked the chemistry, I thought the relationship was sweet. However, the age difference... bothers me. One character is 17-18 and the other is 14-15. That bothers me. It feels like there was supposed to be a bigger timeskip in the show but they had to change it. The younger character looks much older than she did but she is canonically only months older. 2. I think they should have used the main antagonist from s1 (UI Magneto) more in s2. It feels like he is shelved. 3. The ending feels a bit rushed. I would have liked to spend more time in the "utopian" future. 4. They had some odd commentary about Palestine/Israel. Not completely sure what they were trying to say. 5. There are aspects of UI that I think should have been explored more. In s2, you find out they can do a Fusion Dance and merge together. I think this mechanic could have been used to explore aspects of gender and s*xuality. That aspect of fusion was briefly touched on but not explored further. It would have been interesting if one of the UIs was openly LGBTQ so we can explore how that interacts with the UI experience. As an LGBTQ person myself, it felt like the writers are cishet and didn't consider that possible avenue of philosophical exploration. 6. The main character becoming a time god felt a little out of left field. The twist is really cool and interesting but it should have been foreshadowed better. 7. I think the show had some political blindspots. The utopian future seemed to me like a liberal's idea of how a post-scarcity society could be achieved, through technological advancement. The writers are clearly aware of class conflict and socialist critique. They have an openly Maoist character. It would have been interested to learn more about the political and sociological implications of the future utopia. Would have made the future society stand out from the typical Star Trek like sci-fi utopia. Outside of my nitpicks, it's still a great show. I would say s1 is a 10/10 and s2 is a 8/10. I love this show. Kinda wish we got 3 seasons instead of 2. The last part of s2 could have been its own seasons, fixing the minor pacing issues.

The setup is very nice but overall I agree with the three points you mentioned: It should be slightly less symmetrical, for example, the center of the shelves a little bit to the right and you sligh bit to the left, closer to the curtains (they work nicely btw, it let us know you are in a nice space and not in a "spaceship" studio; Also, definetly filling those spaces in the back with something not too visually heavy would help.

When most people go to New Zealand, they go for the scenery and LotR reenactments. Daniel, I mean, Ganiel Dreene, went for the second season of a sci-fi show. 😛😛😛 I loved Tim's little skit. As far as bookshelf nook aesthetics look, I like the addition of the curtain, and I have a suggestion of what to do with the empty bottom space: set up some little tables with Lego. But only if it's easy to do, and doesn't make it hard for you to get at the books and get in and out for filming. 😀
