It’s amazing how every snail has evolved so dramatically different that even the egg laying process differs so much great video Dan 👍👍

Another great species profile, Daniel! I was just watching your one on peacock gudgeons the other day, too. Amazing footage of the developing snail eggs! I think whether or not something is a pest really depends on the situation. I really like keeping these snails in with my shrimp, and don't mind them too much in other tanks. Really nice, hope you have a nice weekend! 🙂👍
@DanielKeepingFish11 ай бұрын
Thanks ever so much Tara. Yes totally agree whether something is a pest or not relates to the situation. That's part of why commonly referring to these and other snails makes me feel uncomfortable. For many of us they are a joyful and interesting part of our aquariums hey.

Canned green beans (no salt added, of course) are a very convenient, if lazy, thing to feed them. I always have some green beans in the tank for them regardless of whatever else they may be getting or finding to eat. And they definitely love those green beans for sure, they eat them up completely.

Your ramshorn snails are really fun! I've got a group of them since a month and seen fun things as well 😂😂 I have had no baby explosion yet, but I hope to get more now that I've moved part of the group to a bigger aquarium. I initially kept them in a nano aquarium. I have one question: do they breed with any colour? So leopards with any of the other colours for example?
@DanielKeepingFish8 ай бұрын
They're pretty fun hey. They will interbreed and the babies end up being whichever was the dominant gene.

I keep them in my 50l tank. They keep the glass fairly clean. My java fern leaves, however, have holes in them that I don't recall being there before I introduced ramshorns. Mine don't need a calcium suppliment because my tap water is about pH9million. They are just as interesting to watch as my platys so they are a permanent tank inhabitant.
@DanielKeepingFish11 ай бұрын
ph9million haha.. Yeah they're super good fun hey. My guess would be it isn't the snails putting holes in the Java Fern but perhaps a difficiency, something they're not getting enough of possibly potassium.

Dear Daniel: For me, adding Planorbarius corneus, to an aquascape is completely anathema, to what I’m trying to accomplish. Although they will devour left-over, fish food and put a dent in algae, I find the look of snails disagreeable, particularly in large numbers, such as this “pest-snail” species. Thank you for sharing, this intriguing look, at this, puffer-fish live-food. All my best, Sincerely, E. J. Brinegar
