Hello how to side chain cannel?I work a lot of lapel speakers microphones is it possible to do side chain them if yes how can i do?

Yes just turn on the compressor on the channel that should be ducked And look on the bottom right corner of the compressor you'll see the "key source" section Press on the down arrow button to go to the second page of the compressor Now choose the channel that should be the trigger to make the compressor work

Dude this is and amazing trick. I tried it I have a bunch of vocals too. 6 vocals and Two keyboards. It really make a difference. Can I still tweak the fair child compressor?

Well..you can but i would strongly recommend not to do it because the job of that compressor is to separate the mid from the side in a neutral manner that keeps the integrity of the signal. So if you want to change the settings I suggest you do the same on both the mid and the side busses. Otherwise if you're more experienced with mixing and you're confident with the sound you want to get then yeah at this point you can do pretty much whatever you want. As long as it sounds good, it is good

@@danielkharrat I realize I screwed up. I went back to the video and saw that you only had keyboards on the subgroups. I have subgroup 1 and 2 for my vocals and 3 and 4 for the keys. I forgot to send the keys to subgroup 1 and 2 . B ut if I do that I might not work I'm not sure. right now is only ducking subgroup 3 and 4. and I'm triggering from the lead mic. I don't have any other buses available for the vocals. Now the way it is now , is ducking the keys . But is not fully doing the other side. So I will try to put the keys on the first pair of subgroups on Sunday together with vocals and see what it does.

For this to work you need them to be separated. This mid side trick requires 4 busses on its own

@@danielkharrat Well I don’t know what it’s doing . But I can tell you this by ducking the keyboard subgroup and inserting it the way you explain it on the video it did amazing. So I have the vocals using the side settings and the keyboard subgroup using the middle settings and it did something really cool. More control on the keyboards vocals were on front. I don’t know it’s doing something really cool. Also if the keyboards get out of control I just adjust the threshold on the docking compressor. By the way, do you know what the balance knob does?

If you have multiple singers, can you use a vocal bus as the trigger instead of a single channel? Sweet trick.

What is the point of doing this? That is, when would this be used in a real world example?

I gave the real world example in the beginning of the video. Someone was doing a live gig and he has a bunch of keyboards and vocals, and the keyboards were clashing with the vocals. So he wanted to get the keyboards out of the way of the vocals but only in the center and keep them nice and loud on the sides. And i made this video in response to his question to show him how to do it. The entire video is about this real world example. Midside ducking is not something necessary that you should do, but if you feel like doing something a bit more fancy than just basic mixing then you can try this out
