She won at Stuggart mostly because Swiatek instead preparing for clay season had to play BJK Cup on hard court so she wasn't in her best shape yet, additionally at Stuggart Rybakina had perfect conditions for her serve but at Madrid even players outside TOP 50 can put up the fight against her in at least 1 set, she is not looking so confident with her serve. She has easiest draw so far, facing only players outside TOP 50, no one seriously tested her yet.

Collins' winning streak was mostly due to home ground advantage and playing a still recovering Rybakina in Miami. Once in a lifetime phenomenon triggered by her decision to retire at the end of the season. I have a feeling she will struggle during the remainder of the season, particularly the grand slams.

Collins finally ran out of gas after so many matches. Don’t forget, if you keep winning tournaments, you get almost no rest. It punishes winning and I think the WTA ought to reduce the number of tournaments or else put a cap on how many tournaments a single player can participate in in one rolling 12-month ‘year’. I hate to see the bts exhaustion and nagging injuries that accumulate during a full schedule year in and year out. Maybe for a pusher or tactical player it is easier (maybe), but for these kind of power hitters it’s unsustainable. I’m glad Collins will get a little rest before Italy and especially Roland Garros. She should plan out her itinerary so that she can peak physically for the GSs. She’s in great shape but she IS 30 years old. Aryna might be able to keep going at her age for longer stretches.

Looks like Madison is the only American left. Russian players in general are there for the long haul. They don't expect miracles and they are patient. American players tend to come out all guns blazing and at the first hurdle they lose their nerve. They are lacking the necessary stamina. We have seen that time and again.
