Danielle's Early Season Flintlock Doe 2017 Pennsylvania

Leatherwood Outdoors 2017 Flintlock Deer. Follow John as he films his wife Danielle hunt for whitetail deer during the early muzzleloader season in Clarion county Pennsylvania. The couple hunts for several days seeing lots of animals including several nice bucks. On Day 4 Danielle gets her chance at a nice big doe and makes a perfect shot. Congrats to Danielle on her 3rd deer ever and first deer with a flintlock!

I think I know now why, at least partly, why ancestors of mine from both sides of the family shrub settled in what became York and Lancaster Counties in South Carolina, and what are still the more rural areas of Mecklenburg, Union and Anson Counties in North Carolina....Those areas looked like "home" to them.....As in Pennsylvania. Which may also explain, to a very small degree, my recent/renewed interest in "long rifles". Great video of an excellent hunt! Keep 'em comin'! And congratulations to Danielle on a very nice, eatin' size, deer!

Well done, nice to see a couple hunting together 🙂. The reason she ran so far is it was a little too far back, more gut shot, although one blood photo it looked like blood from the lungs. I like a high shoulder shot myself. I use a H&A underhammer in 50Cal round ball and have shot a Falloe doe at 120m and was a threw & threw. But still fantastic so, well done.

Also I went to Walmart a couple of years ago I got a camouflage hunting jacket it has pockets on the side and a pocket inside the jacket but you have to unzip it to get to the pocket inside the jacket it was $26 it is really wrong so when it is raining or snowing you don't get cold just thought you should know

Hi John , hows it going buddy. I Have a question do you believe that deer sleep in corn or even just hang out in corn? I am from Ontario Canada and we are just finishing the week of shotgun season and the deer activity as been really low. I am hunting out of tree that is on the bush edge over looking a corn field. Not sure what it is but deers have not been moving at all. Not sure if they are in the corn or not on this farm anymore. Just wondering your thoughts. Well, it really depends on hunting pressure but I have seen them stay in corn all day. It is possible.

that can be hard to do. They can be tough to drive out of corn unless you have several people. It they are not in the corn, they could be nocturnal and that could also be why your not seeing them and they might only be coming to corn at night. you will just have to try some things and see what happens.

I am from Pennsylvania and I just started watching you guys last year. I am glad to see that you are back at it this year. Great shot with the flintlock Danielle. I killed a few deer with a flintlock and let me tell you it's tough. I started self filming this year and managed to get one kill on film. Check it out if you get a chance. BTW do you know how to tell if a hunter is a flintlock hunter? They don't have eyebrows..... 😀

I have always wondered...What would happen, if a deer(as in this video,rifle to the eye lol) were to jump up? Empty rifle? Just funnin with ya. I just get a kick out of that. It would be quite The Bowel Emptying experience 🤷‍♂️🤣 I know it looks good on video, but clearly doe down. Nice shooting, especially with a Flint Lock. Thanks! The flintlock used in this video is a semi custom and can be rather expensive. First look into Traditions muzzleloaders. Also when your at sporting good stores ask if they have any Thompson Center Hawkin flintlocks in 45 or .50 cal. TC stopped making the hawkin several years ago but it is a very very good gun without going up to a semi custom gun if you can find one for sale in good condition. They may be hard to find but check out traditions line of muzzleloaders and used TC hawkins. If you come to like flintlock hunting then maybe years down the road you could save up enough for a semi custom like the TVM Flintlock that she used in this video.
