Hey Daniel, just one thing you can improve in the break away sistem. The bungee! it’s better to have a shorter one (I use Omer, short, strong and cheap). The reason for this is just to get the point where you atach your floatline as close to the triger as possible, your gun will be more stable and improve accuracy, specially if you are fishing deep and the floatline is quite vertical.

Hi Daniel! Awesome video as usual! Do you mind explaining abit more about the purpose of having the small piece of dyneema line in between the Spearshaft and the mono line. Saw this in Tim McDonald's video as well, also in your video between the pig tail and speargun muzzle. Cheers!
@DanielMann4 жыл бұрын
In my video about knots I think I explain it there. Stops me losing shafts!
@matthiasliew70594 жыл бұрын
@@DanielMann I found the video! Thanks!! I Will be using your knots for all my spearfishing rigs from now on. Just lost my shaft 3 days ago to approximately 25kg Cobia! My cousin was like "That's exactly what the youtube guy Daniel Mann said will happened!" right after he saw that Cobia swam away with my shaft. LOLLL
@mikelfernandezgomez16665 жыл бұрын
Great video! But just a quick note, lack of bungee (if not using a reel) can easily lead to too much tension on the line release, which is known to ruin the break point of some mechs (you lose accuracy). TIP: I use a home made bungee that attaches to the loop in the mono with a quick knot. If the rubber snaps, i can cut the dyneema to shorten, redo the quick knot and I am ready to go in 1 minute!
@DanielMann5 жыл бұрын
If you rig it incorrectly of course, but this method shows how to have the perfect tension in the line. However I have seen some mechanisms that are worse than others when it comes to the excess tension.

What line is good to use for spooling a reel other than dyneema?
@alexharalambiev28735 жыл бұрын
Nice video as usual but IMO if you're using single wrap without a reel, you MUST also put a bungee. Otherwise you risk the shaft coming back at you after the shot, or just losing the shaft if the pull is too strong. I have personally lost a shaft this way, because the crimp gave way after the shot even though it was properly crimped.
@christianhackel51945 жыл бұрын
Great vid mate…would a 110 speargun with a single wrap and double 14mm rubbers do the job on kingfish. Cheers🐟🤙
@DanielMann5 жыл бұрын
Most certainly, I’ve shot them with a 90cm gun, 8mm shaft with pranger and a 16mm band.
@jayson8o84 жыл бұрын
I suggest that while rigging a reel add a pigtail swivel between the reel line and monofilament. Just incase you need to pull the spear through the other end, of a small hole in the coral or cave system, to disconnect the line other than cutting it.
@DanielMann4 жыл бұрын
I use a bowline, it is easy to undo and even if I have to cut it not having the weight of the swivel is more benefit to me. I always find they sink and get stuck on the bottom.
@DrChrisBiomed4 жыл бұрын
Another great film! One question though, I don't see a chest pad on your wet suit, is it there or do simply just hip load?
@DanielMann4 жыл бұрын
With a 7mm suit there is no need for a chest pad. For thinner suits I always get it on the inside. I never hip load either.
@AmmerSlammer3 жыл бұрын
The best video I have seen on the subject! Thanks. One question, if using a reel can you skip the monofilament and go straight from the reel to the spear?
@DanielMann3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yes you can, but when you damage the line near the spear from fish you’ll need to cut it back. Eventually you’ll end up with a very short reel line and it has to be replaced.
