Why 90% Of Golfers Can't Strike Their Irons & Fairway Woods

This is why you struggle to strike your irons pure and make solid contact 👇
1. Strike your irons at 2'O Clock not 12:00
2. Use the leading edge of your golf club for instantly better ball striking
3. The hands control the club face
4. You turn in the golf swing as apposed to pivot
5. Strike your woods like irons but with one small change
What's great is if you have any one of these faults in your golf swing they are really easy to fix and can make an instant impact on the quality of your ball striking not just with your irons but with your driver too.
For example if you want to hit your driver straight just getting the forearms aligned at address will be a real eye opener for you.

ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZbin and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

I've seen 100 of these comments, but I just had my best range session yesterday because of this channel! I tried to incorporate as many of the basic tips as I could and i hit way better with every club in my bag. I basically had to change my entire swing but it was really easy because of these videos. I'd say 95% of my shots were between really good and perfect. Best golf channel on KZbin!

I’ve been hitting my irons terribly for the last 10 rounds of golf. I watched this video and your video on pitching shots inside 80 yards. I also watched your video on avoiding shanks (I was having a bad problem with random shanks as well!) Lastly, I’ve watched hundreds of instructional videos on KZbin and not seen a single improvement in how I hit the ball. After watching your 3 videos I listed above and practicing by hitting 2 large buckets of balls- my game has improved tremendously!!! Can’t thank you enough for how much you’ve helped my game just within the last week! I’ve had 15-20 iron shots (from 80-170 yards) this week that were literally some of the best shots of my 15 years golfing. They sounded different, they felt different, they flew different and they landed different…All within a few feet from the cup!! I could not sleep last night from the excitement and was back at the range this morning at 0630! 😂 THANK YOU 🙏

@@AlastairBarkervery fair statement my friend. However, I played 18 yesterday and shot an 84. I’m a 18 handicap and that was the best round all year. That said, I’m headed to the range now to see if I’m “holding on” to this “new me”. You might very well be right cos golf is such a perplexing sport, but I’m hopeful! At a minimum, these 3 videos helped me hit some of the best shots all year and play my best round. 🤞 🙏 😃 😂

I had to figure this all out myself and it took 3 yrs. My only suggestion is given you only have a fraction of a second to complete the swing/downswing is to pre-load the weight on the front leg, maybe 70-80%. Then all you need to do is hold that "2 o clock" set up position and turn through. Works for all irons and hybrids/woods. Game changer.

Watched this video last Tuesday but could not play until the Friday. I had no time to practice so I thought I would just give it a try on the course. I used most of the points highlighted by Danny and what a difference it made. Such simple and easy adjustments but my 3 wood became a lethal weapon. Much better distance and much straighter. My irons and hybrids also played much better too. I knocked 8 shots off my previous score. After two monster consecutive 3 wood shots (well monster for me) I could only say “Thank you Danny Maude”

Thank you for creating this video. As a new golfer (March 2023) my swing is very inconsistent at the moment. I’ve had some lessons but seemingly one “correction” feels like it produces another problem… oh how I long for golf muscle memory! I appreciated how acknowledged different problems that different people had. A process of elimination is always good to do. Tip 5 was particularly helpful as well. I think the misconception comes from a fairway wood often being used as the alternative off the tee so people (me included!) associate it being an “easier driver”. Hoping to put this video into practice this week. Thanks!

I have been having troubles in the last 3 years with especially my irons. I’ve been shanking and having problems with my weight shift to my left side. I tried these tips at the range today and especially the tips for the leading edge of the club and the club face position (more closed at top) helped my iron strikes a lot today! I didn’t hit 1 shank and I wasn’t hanging back and scooping the ball! I also applied these tips to my pitching, which I’ve also been struggling with, and they have helped that too! Thank you Danny! Finau and Rahm are some of the longest and straightest on Tour with very short backswings. Less to go wrong. Your advice to keep the clubface more closed going back and through the ball allowed me to get rid of the cupping of the wrists at the top which made me slice. You had this in a prior YT. I really like the upside down clock visual. I don't hit irons at 2 oclock but more like 1:15. Just me. Will try the 1 oclock for my woods. Great lesson Danny. Thank you.

Gosh, I've worked soooo hard on this. The real problem I came across for me was my wrist conditions through impact. After I got the hang of hitting in front of the ball, I had to work super hard to get the ball to not push right or less likely at first, pull left. I've almost dialed it in now, but it took many hours of practice, in my front yard, with foam and plastic balls to get it. Now, I smash em the majority of the time. If you live somewhere you can even hit a ball, get yourself some foam practice balls from Walmart! They are like magic for practice. You can draw them or fade them or whatever you want. I love it! I'm gearing up to go hit some right now by watching the man, Danny Maude. I practice every single afternoon, unless it's pouring down rain and that has helped me more the anything else ever in this world to get better at golf. I play little games with it, like drawing it high over the power line or power fading it over the roof. Get yourself some! Just had to add: Danny, you inspire me so much. I've been watching your channel since the beginning. Ghank you for what you do!

Excellent video Danny on how to properly strike the irons and fairway woods! As an experienced golfer, I do have times I'm not getting the proper width or rotation in my swing which leads to shorter distances. I do have the proper ball position in my set ups and use my right arm properly in my swing, so I will now move my focus points from the ball to the positions you were mentioning in your demonstrations to gain the distance I was lacking. Well Done Danny!

Another amazing video lesson Danny. I have had a problem with flicking the club at impact, which I didn’t know I was doing until I videoed myself. One thing I do to help with where and how I make impact (which may help others viewing the channel) is that I get myself set up, and then before starting my backswing, I stare at a spot two to three inches in front of the ball. This helps by tricking my brain to think that that is where impact needs to happen, not at the ball itself. Keep the amazing content coming!!

Question about tip #4. Last week you released a video saying to keep the trail arm super tight with the body when taking it back (which feels super weird in my opinion) , but that causes a very narrow circular path. In Tip 4 you're saying to extend the arm. Can you reconcile those points for me?

Been up early watching your videos on hybrids. Just can’t get the right contact with the ball. Going to the range later to try out your tips. Top channel 🤙🏻

Danny, this is excellent. I’ve really struggled with consistency from the fairway and the biggest single factor you mentioned here, for me at least, was weight on my left foot. Also found the visualisation of the 2 o’clock position really useful. I’ve only practiced this at the range but really looking forward to having a go from the grass. Thanks so much for these videos, for a beginner like me they’re invaluable.

Great tips, especially the "leading edge" theory. Its hard for me to overcome the aversion of hitting the ground and trying to sweep the ball off the ground. And I think I am guilty of #3, but never realized it until now. Looking forward to trying it out on the course!

I'm a brand new golfer, and when I started, I was hitting my irons great. I didn't really overthink it and just hit them. My mates thought I've been playing already! A couple of months down the line I feel like I'm regressing. I'm definitely trying too hard to add power and my connections aren't like they were. Thanks for this Danny, great tips i'll take to the range next

Hi Danny, it would be really useful if you could do a KZbin short of you showing us the compression focused swing that you did with Pete Cowen from a reverse down the line view i.e. looking from the target towards you. It's an angle that's rarely seen and would give a lot of insight into the movement of the hands and club in the follow through that is normally obscured by the players body. Thanks if you can!

Great videos, I actually like to see if you know how a person with some mobility issues can hit the clubs further. All the clubs, irons, drivers and fairway woods. I have a complete fused spine and other mobility issues. I still can play a bit, but not getting much distances. Driver at 150 yards +/-. Thank you

Hi Sam, tricky to say without seeing what mobility you do have. If you join my membership site you can post videos of your swing for me to look at. There’s a 7 day free trial initially. I also offer free practice plans every week where I get back to golfers

Morning DM ...simple but effective. Been playing ok lately but as soon as I make a hash of one hole you can bet the next 2 or 3 will be as well. As well as technique, the mental side of the game is really costing me a lot of shots. Any suggestions to help with that? I follow a few Pros n not many go into fixes for not letting a bad hole get into your head and spoiling your Round.

HI Danny I'm a new subscriber and also a beginner learning the sport and watch mostly all your videos. Can you suggest some videos in your library that can help me as a new beginner. I'm too confused which one to follow in your videos coz there are a lot style from handling the clubs to hitting the ball. Thank you and more power.

Appreciate all these lessons. After one year with lots of lessons with our club pro I often hit in all the wrong ways, but I’m addicted now, so practice, practice, practice. Btw, why’s it so hard for me to hit woods/hybrids in the fringe or rough?
@DanielMaude

Make sure it’s not too thick. If the ball is sitting down a little it’s often best to hit with an iron

Thanks, Danny. I have been struggling with ball contact since beginning (5 months) with exception of the driver. These tips are a little confusing though. I think you taught to keep your right elbow close to your body? I also learned from my golfcoach to focus on a spot a few cm’s after the ball (this usually helps a lot although I tend to forget doing it when on the course). But I’m going to give this a try this afternoon. If I start hitting irons and woods better I will certainly enjoy the game more. It is so frustrating making a good first strike from the tee and than continue to play hockey towards the green.😤
