Senior golfers don't hit the golf ball as far as they should not because of their age or flexibility but because they leave the Power Plane
In this golf video Danny Maude gives you 5 simple ways any golfer can stay on the power plane and immediately hit driver longer. You won't need all the golf tips but a combination of 1 or 2 could make a significant difference to your driver golf swing. Here's what you are going to learn:
1. The number one set-up mistakes destroying your driver swing
2. The one major power leak through impact
3. Finally, are you using the right golf equipment for your age and/or ability

ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZbin and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

Tip 4: Yes, yes, yes! Subtle, detailed analysis of what really happens in the golf swing shows that through the hitting zone the spine of the right-handed golfer moves to the right, not the left as it would if the golf swing were like the Olympic discus thrower’s movement. This can be seen in film from behind the golfer, as seen in KZbin film of Sam Snead and Jamie Sadlowski. The ‘envelope’ for that component may be the discus thrower’s movement. Unfortunately, we tend to want to help hit the ball further by moving the bodyweight forward throughout the swing, right foot to left foot, but that just make us stiff. I have never heard any other teacher refer to the Hammer thrower’s movement. I don’t think it is widely understood. Tip 5: Yes, indeed, but it is so hard to let go of cherished, old, expensive clubs!

I am just returning to the game after 25 years. I have been struggling with the driver slice - like every single drive. I played nine holes yesterday after studying many of your videos over the past few days. For the first time ever, I hit three beautiful slight-draw drives straight down the fairway. It was an amazing feeling seeing that kind of rapid improvement in my driver skill. I also had three great sand saves as well, all because of your content. Danny, thanks so much for what you do!

Thank you very much. I have been watching your channel for a while.. The biggest reason is I can relate to some of our tips. Some of your lessons finally made something in my brain to click on. Though I am still working on it, most of my drives in my last round were longer and straighter. I was actually had the longest drive on most of the holes. Now I will keep working with your tips and now have to start over with my irons.

You can watch people loosin up with practice swings, and the freedom of motion throughout their body is effortless. Their turns look great. They shift their weight beautifully. Their finish looks good. Tempo is great. And, they can skim the grass every single time, on the perfect plane. However….. In comes that scary little white ball, and they’re literally scared stiff. They don’t even look like the same person. They get HYPER FOCUSED on the ball, and it becomes their target. Just relax people, and swing the club through the hitting area. You’d be pleasantly surprised with the results. Great video.

I tried the turn and look behind and was amazed as to how different it felt and the flex it gave me ! Now, I will practice before putting this technique to use as my back is already stretching muscles I didn't know I had but I am excited !! Clever use of examples (as the steering wheel) in your video. Puts things in a different frame of mind.

Your five tips to senior golfers Danny were exceptional! I, being a senior golfer, took each one to heart. On occasion, I do not get the desired width in my backswing and this does limit my distances. I do like the "Power Plane" concept and the "Hammer Thrower" analogy! Like your dad, I have made changes in my golf bag and gear. I have gone to a much lighter driver shaft (regular with 50 grams) fairway woods -49 grams, 3, 4, 5 hybrids-65 gram shafts. Face balanced putter. I've changed from steel shafts to graphite shafted irons and woods. Now, golf again is a pleasure to play!

Danny, thanks for another fantastic video. I'm 68 years old and pretty strong. Just had a lesson two days ago and he stopped me from starting the backswing by turning my hips first. He was right about that but he did not help me with a trigger to start the backswing. I played after that lesson but still was struggling. I saw your video today and then went to the range. I was using the one swing thought of turning around to see who was calling me. Oh my God, that is the best I have it the ball in a long time and with that swing thought my swing felt very fluid and easy. Thank you very much Gary

One of your very best videos for sure! The tilted plane graphic was terrific! I think swinging back and forth on a flat plane is simple for most people. However when you are tilted forward at address, the back and forth motion starts to appear as up and down, and weird things begin to happen. And it's still just the same motion.

Absolutely fantastic swing thought!! As simple as imagining someone calling your name behind you. You are 1000 percent spot on Danny. The vast majority of golfers are so obsessed with steadiness and stability they forget to move. They suffer from self imposed "Rigor Mortis." That blame falls to a large degree on the teaching pros of today. They preach the Golfing Gospel of "Static This" and "Stationary That" to the extent that players are bound in chains. Or even Mummified!! Fortunately for your viewers Danny, you don't fall among that brethren. Your steadfast belief in playing with freedom can help unshackle any player. The greatest adage in golf is that the ball "Doesn't know who's hitting it." Players who outperform their peers simply think in freer terms. Age or gender has nothing to do with it. Thank You for reaffirming that indisputable truth. Keep sending us more great content.

Like all of your videos, this one was great. Your analgy to throwing a hammer helped me realize that, at age 69, I do the same as your dad because my back musles and abb musles have gotten lazy. I think I need to use my back musles and abbs get my chest up and pull in the opposite direction as I want the ball to travel as I complete my swing. That will give me more snap at the end of my swing resulting in greater head speed. Somehow I've gotten it in my head that, by that point, I've already hit the ball so what difference does it make. Not true. Thanks so much and keep up the good work.

Hello Danny, I've subscribed and followed your videos for years. Thank you very much for all of the great golf tips. After watching today's video - I stumbled upon your video of recommended daily golf exercises at the Peter Cowan facility. The tips are great. As a 65 year old with a stiff back, I go to my Chiropractor once a month for a tune up :). He has drummed into me that when we stretch and exercise we should always exercise the opposite side of our body as well, to keep the body balanced in strength and flexibility. He also advises that after every other hole while on the golf course to swing a long iron in the opposite of my normal direction about 5-6 times. Again, for the purpose to help keep the body balanced - it has helped me finish 18 holes with less stiffness and discomfort in my back. I just wanted to share in case it may help some of your students. Thanks again for improving my golf game. CHEERS! Jack in the States

Great content as usual. As a senior who only hits driver 200/220 odd yards these days, some great tips in there. Nailed it at the end Danny, about using the right gear. Don't be too hung up about trying ladies and/or senior shafts folks. Really helps with ball speed and closing the face more at impact.

Fantastic video Danny. I especially love the visual aids and the idea of the hammer throw. Once you trust this idea and let it go the result is pure ball strikes in the center of the club. No more toe shots!!! Thanks for all you do for the golfing community.

Hi Danny, I live and work in St Andrews and have gone through the Callaway fitting programme. It was a really nice experience and I got fitted out with my new irons and hybrid 4 wood. As I've just turned 60 my ball speed is way down to where I was once able to play and I now struggle to get the distance. Really liked your video but as we get older we get really stiff and unable to rotate as well as we used to, however your little tips make sense and I need to be so aware of relaxing my arms and shoulders to get in the positions you've shown.

I'm a senior, still reasonably flexible, and just love these tips which I'll certainly put to good use. I have an ancient Callaway 9 wood which I'll dig out and re-grip to see how it helps. Thanks Danny.

I have been following this series of driver improvements from Danny for a few weeks now (I am 62) and it is really starting to bear fruit. I have literally gone from hitting 25% of fairways to 80%. Something I have never done in my life. And I am fairly consistently hitting drives of 180-200 metres which is better than my best drives before. My confidence is rising and I think that I have more to give. I would love to hit 220 metre drives. I have also finished 2 rounds of golf this past week using the same ball! And with two scores under 90 which are the first times I have broken 90 since 2018. The other major plus is that I have far more limited swing thoughts now. Honestly I was mentally exhausted sometimes before with all my swing thoughts. And thinking less makes me less stiff and robotic with a better tempo.

As I match the age group and first name of your student mentioned, the tips ring true for me. I have added a pre shot practice swing on the tee were I swing the club off the ground much like a baseball swing start at hip height then liberally drop the hands down toward the ball. Surprisingly the swing tends to get me with a reduced over the top and a more powerful swing. Completely forget the golf ball and just get a swinging routine, it also reminds me that my weight shifts ever so slightly from back to front foot. Hope that makes sense “it does to me”

Love your enthusiasm Danny. And lots of great info. I'm not as old as some of your seniors but sometimes feel it😂...I use therabands daily for muscle strength and memory and even use them for a quick warm up in the carpark before playing just before firing a big ripper.... That's 200 yards for me.😊

Gives me a totally different perspective on my backswing when you looked back at a target to aid your set up. Will have to try it at the driving range first to avoid a giant swing and a miss while playing on my league.
