ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZbin and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

The reason people need to watch all your videos is how you develop the swing through your videos. I have unconsciously been doing this and my games improved so much. Elbow position, crucial, in right and left arm. How you turn. How you use your wrist. All this suddenly clicked for me and all fitted into place. Brilliant coach.

@@PKKPKK100 Yes a picture would be good and a close up. I'm not sure 45 degrees is best....see Steve Johnson "I put a putter grip on my 7 iron" video.....and you 'll see he uses a normal putter grip with flat side 90 degrees to right so that his right hand and forefinger applies pressure to flat side. In any event these 2 coaches are the best.....and these tips will increase compression, resulting in better ball stiking. Gosh....how I need that!

Built one using an older wedge. Amazing how a seemingly innocuous change makes things feel very different and makes your body react very differently, too. Thank you for sharing, Danny! BTW, this really helps with “spin your forearm down” too.

This is a cracking lesson. Masterful translation of Cowen’s ‘spinning down‘ that confused so many of us. R&A website will be getting lots of hits to check exactly what grips are legal in competition. I’m building a practice 54 degree wedge just like that this weekend.

Did a slow range session on this lesson plan and was getting crazy distance on 7 and 8 iron with what felt like a half back swing. And so straight. More importantly in weekend medal round hit some mid irons into par fours much better with this feel ( lots of 3 putts though ) Old gap wedge has putter grip at 45 degrees on now and my testing yesterday indicating this is a very useful aid for this building this feel.

Excellent Danny you are the absolute best instructor and have improved my game with your indepth detailed instruction, thank you so much . At first I thought you changed your grips to extra fat and I missed a video telling why. I have changed my grips to thicker for this reason and it really works to give the feel of compressing the ball with my left hand, a left hander. I still have to work on keeping on the arc because I have a tendacy of breaking down and hitting hooks or even worse snap hooks.

This technique was used by Harry Frankenberg (Count Yogi), Hogan and Moe Norman. Analyzing the movement of the wrists through impact reveals the secret which is allowing the club force to pull both the extension and radial deviation out of the wrists, in particular the trail wrist, through impact. This can be seen in your video here by freezing the frame at the point ball is releasing off the face in your front view slow motion swing. I first got curious about it a dozen years ago when decided to start from scratch (again) using Hogan’s Five Lessons and started doing his wrist waggle action in the pre shot routine realizing it was actually a rehearsal for releasing the club through impact as demonstrated in this video. I realized how much that waggle of the wrist can move and accelerate the club head and studied Hogan’s swing with freeze frames and realized that’s what he was doing between the time the shaft came down parallel and it impacted and released the ball. Golf journalists wrote about how Hogan’s shots sounded different than other pros using the same ball and club and the reason was the added acceleration and striking force the “waggle down” radial-to-ulnar deviation move adds to a conventional swing with radial deviation and extension in the trail wrist through impact. I then came across Count Yogi and tried to duplicate his technique and realized he had the same release and added acceleration of the club head in his swing technique with an added twist; his technique allowed the club force to pull the wrists so far down into ulnar deviation that they locked up which provides very precise and consistent control of the club face resulting in consistently dead straight shots with no tilting of spin axis and draw or fade action on the ball, what he was renowned for, as was Hogan and Norman. Norman’s secret was is his grip, which puts the wrists into ulnar deviation when aligning club face to ball in the pre-shot routine. During the backswing his wrists went into maxed out radial deviation along his single plane swing then very predictably returned the club head and face to the ball with the wrists back in maxed out ulnar deviation resulting in the powerful dead straight shots he was famous for. So a few of us have seen it before and have been using it 😊 I discovered it and started using it after retiring in my late 50s and still use it now that I’m 71 because it adds effortless power.

Danny, after watching all 3 videos in this series my take away. Set up with my trail hand at 45% on the shaft. Then use my body to swing the club where my hands travel from 9 to 3 along the arc. This is so different. The bonus is I now finish the swing. I have trouble blocking the shot because I tend to stop rotating. It took we watching for two weeks but I got it!

Really enjoyed this lesson Danny. I had the worst golfing experience last weekend. This will help. Headed to the range to work on this. Cheers Danny! Much appreciated, Stacy

Danny - it blew my mind when I first saw your wedge and iron with a putter grip on them. Then when you started working thru the shot process, it made excellent sense. Great explanation on how the hand path needs to go. Big takeaway for me - pushing thru on plane (keeping the body rotating). Keep the great content happening!

What a great session! Right after watching, I went to the range, just half 7 irons were flying like full 6 irons but with compression and easy control. Great results - hope it works 2morrow again. Thank you - great work!

The 45 degree swing plane has been a game changer for me. I visualize this in my practice swing. Has helped takeaway, feel club head better, better impact, hugely improved chipping (had 3 NPRs yesterday - up and down, no putter required), AND improved rotation without hip or back pain! My season coming to a close with good feels to remember. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Danny, will give this lesson a try during my weekend practice. It is a perfect fit for the "3/4 pitch swing" Fabian Bünker, a German teaching pro, recommends improving both swing and hitting. Thank you as always for your great video.

I’ve been following your lessons for a while now Danny. I appreciate that ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’ and it is a work in progress as old habits still creep back. Ask any ex-smoker or poor eater - bad lifetime ingrained habits are very hard to break, but your videos have really helped not only to (slowly!) improve my game, but to rekindle my love for our great sport … I have even invested in some quality foul weather clothing as I intend to be out there working on your ‘gems’ even as our British winter approaches! Thanks as always mate 😊

Danny, really love all your videos, the Cowen related material is really special. I've been working hard on rotating through the impact area and swinging left. Ball striking has greatly improved which I contribute to much better club face control. At times I struggle with ball flight however, my ball flight is much lower and I'm struggling to get the ball up..hitting a lot of solid but low darts. Would love to hit it a bit higher, any thoughts on that!

Every week I think I’ve just watched the tip of the year and my game will leap up a level. Hrrrmph, my arms quit staying straight and my body stops. However, you continue to give me hope, 👍👍👍.

Great explanation again Dan the golf man ✌🏼 This should help me out. I have been struggling with early extension which has gotten me a bit too static with my rotation causing my trail arm to be too straight at impact. Sometimes I hit great shots but sometimes my shots are so inconsistent. I know it's my set up & actions in my swing. Work for the winter months 💪🏼

This understanding of the right hand, right arm, and right side completely changed my game. The golf swing is more of an “under” swing than people envision it to be. This is how I picture it…. Try to sling your club underhanded through 4 sheets of drywall 10 feet in front of you(towards fairway, or green). This will make your right shoulder go down, under, and THROUGH. The through part is VERY important. This gives you a feeling of hitting the ball forward, instead of focusing your intention on hitting down “at” the ball. You’ll feel some right side bend through impact, weight on your left side, and your hips and shoulders facing the target through your finish. This feeling, along with proper wrist conditions are truly the keys to great ball striking, in my opinion. Love your content, Danny. Always dead on point.
