Don't turn your shoulders in the golf swing if you want to hit driver longer...in fact ANY club longer. Golfer's make this mistake all the time and you won't just lose distance you will struggle to hit driver straight.
In this golf lesson Danny Maude reveals exactly how the shoulders work in the golf backswing AND downswing. Improving how you rotate in the golf swing enables you to do two things:
1. Store energy in the backswing
2. Release that energy at the perfect time at impact
What you will enjoy about these simple golf tips is they can be taken straight to the course because Danny will help you feel and visualise the perfect golf swing.

ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZbin and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If it's a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

You’re awesome! I so appreciate your enthusiasm and humility. One comment though. It looks to me when you were hitting your iron you violated the positioning that Pete had shown you? There was separation and space between your trail arm and body? Thanks for all that you do for us dedicated, passionate, but struggling amateurs.

Keyword is "Game changer". I was fighting the same symptoms as Danny mentioned early in the video. Too much rotation, getting static in the swing and trying to control it. Result was lost compression especially in the mid to long irons and loss of distance with the driver. Key for me was higher hands and being more dynamic in the swing. Voila! Played a round in wet and cold conditions but the compression with irons was unreal. Tight draws 90% of the time without unnecessary manipulation. Thank you Danny! I needed this video to find joy in playing golf again.

It’s great that you are so open to adopting new approaches, when they are demonstrably beneficial. It must have been a brilliant “light bulb” moment when the recent experience, together with the Pete Cowan advice merged. I love the fact that I can work on one technique and apply it across the clubs, with just a simple change of shoulder angle. Top work Danny.

Great video Danny and have watched the long drive video a week ago. Have been working on the Earnest Jones method of swinging the clubhead for the last few months, which is essentialy point 3. Del a Torre then refined it to put the club over your right shoulder, then put the club over your left shoulder and let the ball get in the way. That creates the closest to vertical swing you can put a golf club onto a ball. Exactly what you are talking about Danny, not going around the body. I'm 64, off 19 and 3 weeks ago injured my lower back, not by playing golf. Today, nursed myself around the course using the Jones/Del a Torre method for 34 points with 4 blobs. 5 pars on the front 9. Most drives using this method, with a limited swing where around the 190 - 200 metre mark and on fairway. Trust it folks, it works.

Hi Danny, it makes so much sense and even I as a 67 year old player am amazed by the simplicity. In my younger years my lenght was way longer and by getting older I lost control of speed, distance and also directions. Your video which I saw a couple of times now, did increase my confidence in striking the ball further and better. I like to maintain my single handicap for many years to come. Love to watch all the instructions you are giving.

This video made a huge difference for me. I average 92-94 mph on my swing and 132mph ball speed with the driver. Doing this at my last session I hit 98-99 mph on my swing speed and topped out at 146 mph ball speed. Also went from a high fade/slice to hitting mostly draws. Phenomenal video! I started doing this and noticed a massive improvement in accuracy and consistency esp in my scoring irons. I ONE: never focus on getting to the TOP of my backswing and making that upward motion. Finding this motion allowed me to then create more downward motion rather than the swinging motion. I raise my lead heal but it also helps me when I almost step into that lead foot to transfer weight. Pairing this with your other video of saying “ one hundred and one” really smoothed me out.

I don't golf as much as I used to largely because I own my own business and when I do golf, I find myself swinging in a much more deliberate and stiff manner just as you described. Due to this stiffness in my swing, I no longer have been hitting +300 yard drives as a once did. Your video today reminded me of how I once would swing when hitting my driver. I am so grateful to you for this video and can not wait to get out to the range to practice what you taught us. Thank you.

I’ve been working on “spinning”the club down-what you and Pete profess. It’s been helping, but I think I’ve been turning too much and your comments and teachings here about vertical force and what should be primary in the swing, makes all the sense in the world. It’s 29° and snowing here so I’m working on this in my garage. Keeping vertical focus and using that towel drill is helping me get my left side out of the way without trying, and come in to the ball in a more powerful position downward. This focus is keeping me from coming over the top as well. Thanks, Danny!

Been following Danny for quite sometime. I got to a place where I struggled with golf and could not get myself out of the GOLF DARKNESS! I got myself back and enjoying golf again by taking Danny's lessons to the range and just focus on his advice and ignore all other noise ( mostly in my own head) as we all know we become our worst enemy by over thinking. You cannot go wrong with any lesson from Danny. My game is now better than ever. I will give this drill a try as I am also getting up in age (54) but I do hit a long ball for my age but more is better!! :) My favorite videos were Danny's lessons with his Dad. Just a few holes he had him fixed right up! Keep it up Danny..

I still have to do a lot of work with that towel drill to get my speed up, but just from the inspiration you provided in getting the club moving properly in the downswing today gained me 10 to 15 yards off the tee (190+- 5 yards) to over 210 yards. My iron play really got a shot in the arm too, so much so that I had to go to a club higher loft to accommodate the extra carry I was getting. I warmed up trying to really accelerate my hands down from the top, and it works and translates immediately to full shots! Played a pretty tough course (indoor, of course, unfortunately) at 1 over par that last week I scored an 80 on, and the driver and iron accuracy was improved along with carry distance. That was the amazing part.

Its interesting that I came across your video. I've been playing golf for about 15 years...only like 2-3 times a year due to other obligation. As of late, I've started playing more and have always been a swing easy kind of guy... I talking like half swing stiff as a board because I could hit it straight with drives barely going 200 yards. Had an epiphany at the range like 2 weeks ago and stated to incorporate the swing easy but incorporate the rotation and just the rotation alone has allowed my club head to increase and I'm hitting it like 40-50 yards further with nothing more than rotation... Once I get confidence with the rotation, I will start to add speed and hope that I can hit even further. Great video!

Glad you followed up on the video from last week. I noticed two things with the "Towel Drill:: 1) you didn't worry about keeping your trail arm straight (as James said in the original vid), and; 2) you bought a new towel for this demonstration...you left the tag on it!😀.Thanks so much for these videos. Have a good golfing week yourself.

Currently struggling with over the top.. I’m 6’-5” 235lbs, with long arms and only hit driver 245-255. I know what I need to do, but after recording myself, I watch the video and I’m still SO over the top, losing so much power.. this video gives me hope. I can’t wait to try the towel drill tomorrow and hopefully start hitting some high nasty bombs!! Great video & explanation. I will recommend to my buddies also struggling!

Perfect Danny. In your studio you can actually see the technique. It reminds me of my old baseball swing. I always loaded into my right/ left leg (switch hitter). My hands always were higher. Instead of level you snap dow. Also thank you for showing how you can apply to irons
