@@claudioblechle2536 I've played almost 10,000 games since 2017. Only got into the theory and tactical ideas like two years back but this series taught me loads! Also 1200 to 1500 is a huge improvement. Possibly the hardest hurdle to get over tbh

It is so refreshing to just watch a GM play whilst also hearing his inner thoughts. Also, not just 'a typical GM's thoughts', here there is no ego. The thoughts are not curated. It's an impressive stream of consciousness. He explains his classy moves but also his (very few) blunders. That's why we learn so much. Thank you Daniel and have happy new year.

2:10 wow I actually noticed the tactic Daniel missed! I had a period when I got burned by this boomerang knight in Caro and French so bad that I'm now somewhat allergic to putting a bishop on b5/g5 when black's able to put a bishop on d7/e7... Proud to say I'm not falling for this tactic anymore these days

Danya is right. I see white's position alot when I play against the french defense system In similar positions where the c3 pawn defends the d4 pawn with the light square bishop on d3 the dark square bishop doesn't really have good squares to go and remain passive. However the queen gets to the e file and the queen's knight is flexible. I have also seen a game where Aron Nimzowitsch played the dark bishop on the long diagonal staring at his own pawns but his bishop eventually came alive latter in the game.

Tip for everyone who wants to learn from the speedrun maximally: before yo watch Danya's playthrough of a game, go find the game on his account (chess.com/member/SenseiDanya) and play *solitaire chess* with the game. That is, play through the moves of the game and at every point, predict what Danya's move will be. If you predict a move wrong, then see why his move is better - it may be obvious, or you might have to watch the video to see him explain it. Work through the entire game this way, and only then should you watch him play the game. That way you can compare your thought process to his, and be better able to apply it in your own games.

At 10:38, after 16... Nxa2 17. Nd7 Bxd7 18. Qxd7, GM Naroditsky makes the claim that the double attack on both hanging knights is inescapable, but Black can play 18... Qe6 to defend both knights. At 29:34, after 17. Qf5, I spotted that Black has an opportunity to force a draw after 17... g6!? 18. Qxf6 Be7 19. Qe5 Bd6, and White can only repeat moves to avoid losing the queen. I would be content with this resource if I were pitted against a grandmaster.
@andrewmichael9976
@andrewmichael9976 3 жыл бұрын
After analyzing in greater depth, I recognize now that, as expected, both of my observations were wrong. For my first observation, White simply exchanges Queens. After 19. Qxe6 fxe6 20. Rxa2, White enjoys the advantage of an extra piece and will most likely win comfortably. My second observation has a refutation that at least prevents a forced draw. After 17... Be7, White can sacrifice material to avoid the forced draw. White can afford this because Black sacrificed a knight initially to perform this forced sequence. To go for a win, White can try 19. Nb5 cxb5 20. Qc3 Qxc3 21. bxc3 and now the game continues.
