It's interesting how similar Magnus is to Bobby Fischer. Both players were just so dominant and far ahead of everyone else during their time periods that they stopped trying to defend their world titles, both had similar complaints about the game of chess and the world championship format, and both continued to enjoy the game via alternate formats (like Fischer random) Bobby Fischer was even known to play bad openings/troll openings on purpose to give himself a challenge.

New chess move idea: "Crowning" (you switch positions with your queen & king, with similar rules as castling - can't be in check or put into check, neither piece has moved yet, etc.) It may not do much in terms of advantage (& loses castling privilege), but it can change openings & midgames, is inspired by the Carlsen Gambit, & finally adds a new move to the game. Also, both sides queens & rooks can easily attack the other sides king in the center.

Game 3 is based on a rumored match from around 1991-1993 late in Fischer’s career against a strong chess engine with another GM for backup (for the machine.)

That's a heck of a gambit. All you can do is smile. Magnus makes a mockery of the principles chess teachers teach. It's like watching a fencer who is so good they just dance and prance around their expert opponent, who must feel like their feet are mired in mud. Zorro on a chessboard.🙂

Third homie really tried playing the anti-Carlson gambit defense and magnus responded with the elongated variation of the Carlson gambit. This is real opening theory right here.

From my own experience with Bongcloud opening, the advantage dumb openings give you is not positional but mental. The opponents are completely baffled and become far more prone to making mistakes.

I'd argue that having the King and Queen swapped around actually undercuts a lot of standard chess theory, so he's got minimal development after six (or more!) moves (and can't castle), but he's potentially destabilized the opening that the opponent played and certainly makes any prepared moves based on the opening less certain. I'd be interested to see, for example, whether the white Bishop on F5 in the first game was an inaccuracy given the location of the King. I doubt that the analysis bar can take into account a meta-move like this, but what if the analysis bar was set to Fischer random?

At 13:32 after the check by Magnus white bishop blocking saves the game for white. This is since if black queen takes bishop then white queen blocks the check forcing the queen trade and the white rook picks up the center pawn. If black knight takes bishop then white queen takes pawn putting black into check.
