I just discovered what ocarina is. My question is can you get any ocarina for songs? I immediately thought of Lugia's song does it matter how the ocarina is to play Lugia's song? how exactly can I get that ocarina an a few others? I played the clarinet and I get the concept. I think I would have couple of ocarinas to do experimental music but also play Lugia's song. I don't want to have to make it I don't have a kiln.
@itsbea38596 жыл бұрын
This comment is a year old, and I doubt you'll see this, but, if you do: Most ocarinas you find on Amazon are within the 15-20$ price range, and while they'll /play/, it'll likely be off-key. It's better to find something that's 1) not trying to replicate the ocarina of time, and 2) is within the $50-100 price range. There are some good plastic ocarinas out there, which are usually not as expensive as clay ones and usually play just as well. And, when looking for a brand, look for a brand that SPECIALIZES in ocarinas.

If the outside of the ocarina is lumpy like the video, don't spend all day making patches for it and smoothing it out with water because you run into the problem the guy in the video did: it gets too wet, and you end up making more lumps and ridges just trying to smooth it. As long as the general shape is good, smoothing can wait until after you bisque fire it. Just make sure you have proper ventilation, and if you're planning on glazing, rinse the ocarina thoroughly so the clay dust doesn't block the pores of the object and stop glazes from bonding completely.
@Eddi_1342 жыл бұрын
Yeah he absolutely soaked the clay. Sure, use water to close those cracks and smooth some edges, but only what is needed.

I was wondering if you could show us how to make simple six hole Pendant Ocarinas? i'm looking into making my own and I would like to make a six hole.
@DanielOcarinas10 жыл бұрын
I could make a video of that in the future but it might be a while. Until then thumb holes on just about any ocarina are the same. Each thumb hole should add 2 more notes. For example, if your pendant ocarina's highest note is in C once you add a thumb hole it should be D and then E with the next one. You can also check my website and look under the Fingering Charts page for a fingering chart of 6-Hole ocarinas. I hope this was helpful. :)

What type of clay did you use? Also is there any other way to access a kiln because I dont know if I know anybody that has one or a pottery place
@DanielOcarinas10 жыл бұрын
Brown Clay. Fires around cone 5-6 As for finding a kiln try asking a local school if you could borrow one or enroll I a pottery class. What I did after I stopped borrowing a kiln is I used an old glass fire kiln that could reach cone 5. The small low fire kilns are not as expensive. Of course the down side being that my glass fire kiln which I got used cracked and completely broke and I had only used it for a year.
@nicolepenaranda883310 жыл бұрын
Okay, thank you. I will try to see if I can borrow a kiln because that is the hardest thing to get. How long exactly would it take to fully complete the ocarina? I need it done by Wednesday for a project
@DanielOcarinas10 жыл бұрын
Nicole Penaranda Well if you can get it working in one day It would take another day to dry fully, then 2 more days to fire, glaze, and fire again. 4 days at least I would say. I would just bring it in unfinished and if you can at least bisk fire the ocarina before you bring it in so it does not break.
@brainstormfilms11136 жыл бұрын
DO I HAVE TO USE FIREING CLAY OR CAN I USE AIR DRY ???

+Jill701 The Broken A good place to look for a kiln would be any kind of university or community college. Is there any other way than using a kiln?
@DanielOcarinas9 жыл бұрын
If you want to use real clay then not really. There is air dry clay which is VERY fragile and weak or over clay which can not be molded with water and is very hard to keep in tune so these videos might not help too much if you use oven clay anyway. I can always take custom orders if you really want a hand made ocarina of time replica.

John Zumwalt Where can you get what? The kiln, clay, or custom order?
@johnzumwalt52069 жыл бұрын
custom order
@DanielOcarinas9 жыл бұрын
John Zumwalt aceocarinas.weebly.com/custom-orders.html That is the page where you order them from. Basically you give me the details of what you want and what your price range would be and I can tell you what I can do for your price range and give an estimate of what the final version would cost. Some custom orders require advanced payment but those are only the orders that I do not think I could resell if the order is backed out of and of course as you are paying before the ocarina is finished If something goes wrong I can either remake the ocarina from scratch or issue a full refund. The page also shows what custom orders have been ordered in the past, what they sold for, and what custom orders I am currently working on as well as available glaze colors.

OcarinaWizard If it's made of clay or porcelain I'd use super glue. Just make sure to get the glue all the way around so it doesn't have any air escaping.
@MrNikolidas9 жыл бұрын
***** I repaired mine using ceramic glue; its strength is phenomenal and it has held up for the last couple of months at least.
@TheMadisonMachine9 жыл бұрын
+OcarinaWizard Gorilla glue expands, so it would fill in gaps, but you'd have to clamp the pieces together and check it frequently to wipe off any glue that expands to the outside or you'd get wads of gorilla glue around the break that make it ugly.
@randomconsumer44948 жыл бұрын
OcarinaWizard super glue. no need to wait longer than the instructions recommend... you can prep the surfaces with super glue. if the clay is absorbent, a few drops on the surfaces, let dry. then glue the pieces together.
