There have been a few cases where an artist could have pursued a lawsuit against another for using a “similar” kind of tune, but they don’t because they understand that sometimes people just have similar ideas or its just a coincidence, etc Reminds me of that time Yellowcard tried to sue XXXTentacion (a few days after he died might I add) for allegedly stealing a progression from one of their songs and using it in Lucid Dreams, and the lawsuit fell flat on its face because there wasn’t enough evidence and music doesn’t work like that Tl;dr: music don’t work like that, and you’ll probably be fine if you write a song that’s similar to another
