One has to admire his mental toughness. People expected him to be bawling his eyes out. Instead, he is here, confident, not making excuses for his loss, giving props to his opponent, and giving a very insightful analysis of his loss. For fans who started to watch from round 1 understand what he said was right, he could have lost on that day. For people who only watch final will think that he choked again. The fact is he is proud of himself fighting to the final even if he wasn't at his best. He was like broken by more than 20 times in the previous six matches, very amazing to last till final and put up a fight

I am at awe how Meddy pulled off a 5 setters given the time he spent on court all tournament. Against a Sinner that only lost 1 set in the AO to Djokovic in the semis. This makes me respect and admire Meddy on another level.

i know he was 1 set away from being an AO champ, but he is already in the hall of fame of tennis, so he's not absolutely devastated. Still gutted that it was the same case against Rafa being 2 sets up. The loss would have been tolerable if it was 4 or straight sets. Either way, he made the finals at AO and also made the match very tense and competitive so its a win for Medvedev

Yes, because maybe he is running his betting company or working with betting managers and making more in manipulating betting than in winning a Grandslam... Too many 5 setters he is part of where its 2-0 and 0-2 and final result turns around.. 3 matches now in AO and I remember 2022 AO too.. maybe much more that I dont follow.

I'm Italian, so of course I rooted for Jannik. Nevertheless I am partially heartbroken because I have nothing but respect for Medvedev. Great competitor, great guy: never banal nor dull in his interviews and match analysis, both in victory and even more so in defeat. I admire his ability to not create excuses fro himself and not taking anything away from his opponent's merits. As a player, although unorthodox in his swing mechanics, his serve and backhand are at an all-time great level. Very tactically savvy and so mentally strong as well. In another tennis era he would already be a multiple slam champion. I wish him all the best in masters and slam, because he deserves them. Besides in matches vs. Sinner and other Italians I'll always root for him and his compatriote Rublev, another genuine (and a bit unlucky) athlete.

Totally in line with you! I cheered on Sinner today, but I got into tennis watching Medvedev a couple of years ago-enchanted by his game style, his position far back the line, etc. But on top of it, I love his attitude. He's always respectful with opponents and so clever and honest in interviews. Just think of how he reacted today after the loss, smiling at Jannik!

When you put into context that he broke the record for most metres run in a grand slam buy a large margin and had an extra day on court in hours and can still serve 205km first serves in the 5th set is just miraculous, such an athletic beast. A great start to eh year for Medvedev on the hardcourt will be interesting to see how his form goes after this.

He also played 31 out of a possible total of 35 sets in the tournament (the 4 extra sets he could have had was 1 from the retired 1st round, 1 from Borges, and 2 from straight-setting Felix). Daniil had to lose to Emil Ruusuvuori. But he won then in 5 sets, reached the final, where many predicted Sinner's victory in 3 sets. Daniil also gave out an equal match with Sinner. At the same time, Medvedev used a new tactic of playing with frequent exits to the net, which he had never done before, and he was successful in this. He can really be proud of himself.

Medvedev played really well. But where he lack a little is pressuring opponent and making the opponent run on the field, what i mean by this is if you look at Sinner he always pressed Medvedev, pressured him with shots far left to far right. Medvedev must work on this make the opponent run the field with far left to far right shots. Medvedev was pretty tired around end of 3rd set as he been running left and right.

I'm an italian and happy Sinner won, but sad Medvedev lost. I have the utmost respect for Meddy and believe he hasn't yet won the number of slams he deserved yet. I am still cannot believe Daniil lost this match. He was so aggressive from the beginning and his level of tennis was insane. This level reminds me his win in USO final 2021 against Novak. Very disappointing as of Daniil fan that he cant keep momentum going and close this match in 3 sets. At the end of 2nd set level dropped and unfortunately dont recover until the end. Daniil mentioned that he was trying to keep going but physically cant sustain. Nevertheless i saw that Daniil in 3rd start playing more defensive tennis and not risky offensive. So may be part of the reason is physical condition his all shots start having less speed power. Only Daniil knows for sure what happened and why he changed winning offensive tactics . So brilliant tactics . I am sure he will train execution part for longer period of time. Daniil you the best! You played like a warrior for your life and i am sure with today your best level of first two sets you can beat anyone!

Daniil if you read this, it’s very impressive the way you handled yourself in what must be tough moments and questions, particularly when you’re still processing it all. To be honest I was barracking for Sinner for no other reasons than that he’s so young and has worked so hard to improve his game and also because no Italian has won a grand slam for so long. But I really felt for you, you too deserved to win unfortunately only one can. The way you handled this and each interview and clearly the aftermath of the match, is admirable and you truely deserve a trophy for the fine person you are and not letting all the external pressures mess you up and lose focus of what you need to do and what’s important in your life. Medvedev has been my fav player and i have followed his career since the beginning. The poorly behaved crowd hated him in 22 for no fault of his own except being on the other side of the net from rafa and for being himself. He is still being himself and finally winning the respect he deserves. Hope to see him with his 2nd slam very soon
