36 yrs old and still make it to the semis, this would have been considered as a miracle in the pre-era of The Big Three. *edit: what I meant is not that it's no usual for the players to enter semis "consistently" before "The Big Three" era. Yes there were several ones here and there but it was not very usual to see that during the time when the majority of the players retired at their late 20s or early 30s.

@@ProbablyLying he has kids, probably got the flu after Christmas, who knows. As I said, he didn’t make excuses, but you can clearly hear in his voice that he’s sick. Maybe doctors gave him treatment, he was at 70-80% in this tournament. Anyway, he’ll be ready for the next slams. I don’t know if he gives everything for the French Open, as he said, difficult for everyone to switch. He‘ll be looking at Wimbledon. That’s the tournament he wants and he’ll be ready there. There are 2 more slams in him. If it’s one, fine. But this is not his end. Let’s talk when he’s healthy and 100% fit.

I don’t think it’s age that caused him to be off this tournament. The ATP finals were only last month. I think it’s the viral infection but maybe Novak doesn’t want to emphasise that to avoid taking credit from Sinner & also maybe to avoid awkward questions about COVID testing etc

@@johnnyp655 no I was only talking about Sinner. Him and Alcaraz are the only 2 who don't fear playing against Djokovic in big matches. Sinner took a long time to develop this mindset, all the others are light years away. Federer and Nadal are different became they were contemporaries and didn't grew up seeing Djokovic as a tennis god like the newer generarions. And even Federer suffered mentally when he got older as he started to have more doubts and fears when playing Djokovic in big matches and it cost him a few slams

Yeah, this was inveitable for the GOAT. His best opponents, 15 years younger than him are getting better and better and even though Alcaraz's level is somehow dropping, Sinner is a complete killing machine right now. This is not the end for Djokovic, if he has the capability to admit that he played a really weak match then he is willing to improve and he probably has more Slam wins in himself but it is probably only going to get tougher from now on. Anyway, even if he stops playing tomorrow, which he isn't, he is the best player of all time already. Everything he wins from now on is a bonus.

Like him but hate him as well. He still tends to throw temper tantrums on court and smash his racquets which are the tool of his trade. This shows total disrespect for the sport. He did it when he lost in the last Olympics of all times to be so childish. Then he pulled out of mixed doubles there denying his partner a chance to medal all because he was being immature. He did it at Wimbledon too ! Many more examples than those. He is the goat but another goat has never broken a racquet and never thrown a temper tantrum on court in his entire career. He's from Spain.
