There are many Greeks in Australia that is why, especially Melbourne, traditionally they have been saying it is the third biggest Greek city in the world after Athens and Thessaloniki. About the two, Tsitsipas definitely has an emotional block since the first match and the incident, although the two are great players anyway, it is just an extra. Some people talk about tiredness after the turnaround of Nadal match but I dont agree with that, mostly I agree on Medvedev having elements in his play that are tough for Tsip and added to that, there is an emotional block since the incident which makes Tsitsipas have an extra hurdle, but is up to him to overcome it. Overall, I consider the two the most prepared players of next gen mentally at the moment, with Med little more calm and focused at the moment.

Medvedev's main strength to me is his backhand..he's so agile and strong and adaptable on it. It gives him an advantage over 95 per cent of other male tennis players. Combine that with great movement, great serve and a really good forehand (plus a great tennis brain) and you have a pretty lethal combo

I can't wait for the final 🤩 Nole, the king of the Australian Open vs Medo, the unstoppable bear! Impossible to predict the outcome, as they are both playing on such a high level. Hopefully we'll see a thrilling 5-setter, whoever the winner will be. The only weakness I see in Medo's game are his poor volleys. Those might cost him the win on Sunday. Then again, Nole first has to get him into a situation where Medo has to play a volley. We'll see how it plays out on Sunday.

Medvedev really has Tsitsipas's number. I think part of it is because Tistipas doesn't actually have so much variety off the ground - primarily, he doesn't possess a top class slice backhand. Many of the other players who are successful against Medvedev use low slice shots to make Medvedev bend and stretch, mix up the pace and get him out of his comfort zone. As it is, Tsitsipas gives Medvedev a regular rhythm and bounce that he loves.

@@olivermccall9770 I was just watching Thiem beat Medvedev in straight sets at the US Open last year. All he did was tease Medvedev with low crosscourt slice backhands. It really seemed to frustrate Medvedev. Nadal did to Medvedev too at the tour finals, before inexplicably losing his concentration when serving for the match. Tsitsipas needs to learn to play that kind of intelligent tennis.

@SP Nonsense they prefer attacking tennis - Federer, Thiem etc - over boring (as they see it) baseline grinding tennis as played by Djokovic. It's nothing against Djokovic himself, it's his grinding style of play they don't warm to. It's the tennis equivalent to Italian football: it's successful, it works, it brings trophies, but generally it's not great to watch someone grinding their way to victory. They liked Ivanisevic and Mario Ancic, for example, because they played attacking, entertaining tennis.

So what? Medvedev could also get tired after Rublev. Moreover, each player has a day off before this match. So, it's not really a reason. It's just Medvedev. He is able to win in any case. Also if we look at their all matches between each other, for some reason Stefanos can't beat him.. mostly. Medvedev leads 6-1

Tsitsipas won't start beating Medvedev regularly until he matures a bit more and learns to respect Medvedev's game. Until then, Medvedev will continue to thrash him with the exception of the odd "off day", even when the crowd behave as this one did. A H2H of 6-1 isn't a rivalry. One is clearly much stronger than the other at the moment.
