Cinderbloom We have that over here in Denmark. Bacon liver paté. You should get pickled beets or anything pickled in general, and put on top of it on the bread. Make sure there's not room for more on top when you add it. You want a slice of the pickled goodness with every bite. Trust me. It makes the whole experience so much better.

Danish people are the nicest, super friendly with tourists. My day and a half in Copenhagen was fantastic. Such a beautiful city, beautiful lively markets, you can just lose yourself in the market and visit the city at the same time. Traditionnal and modern mix very well, great city.

You cannot visit Denmark without trying our "Stegt flæsk med persillesovs" (Fried pork with parsley sauce). That is, in my opinion, THE best Danish food you can get. Period. :-) In Copenhagen, there is a place called Hansens Familiehave (Hansen Family Garden) located at Pile Allé. They serve traditional Danish food (smørrebrød, pork dishes, fish/herring etc). Go there. You won't regret it.

Hear hear.. Stegt Flæsk med Persillesovs is a MUST have.. (and goat forbid if they make the sauce too thinly.. It should be the step before being served in slices.. thick as mud and heavy as a brick.. And looking at Wolter, no offence man but, you should really try the all you can eat, see how long you can last.. (remember a good beer or two to go along with it, my personal taste would say a Tuborg Classic, since i think it's heavier than a Carlsberg ("Hof", as we call it) or a Green Tuborg, but still crisp enough to go well with the salty flæsk, and parsley

Also, there is a cake that Danes make and eat for weddings, birthdays and special occasions (mainly for weddings). Its called a Kransekake! It's translated into "circle cake" its almond based and is layered like an American wedding cake but is much thinner and wider. It consists of 12 layers. For those Americans who would like to try Scandinavian food (mainly Danish), there are a few Nordic restaurants in New York, NY. One is called "Akavit", which is in Times Square by Rockefeller Center They make they're own Akavit and they flavor them too! Very tasty! Another one is called "Copenhagen". I haven't been to there yet, but I plan to go!

The thing that I loved in Denmark was their fries, (crisps of french fries, whatever), they make them at the train station in Copenhagen and it takes 15-20 minutes. They take fresh raw potatoes and fry them, first on low heat and them on high heat for the perfect french fry. 💗

okay so i live in copenhagen and here is what to really eat, 1. if you want to get real good hotdogs go to nimb wich is right by tivoli, they make gourmet hotdogs and is definitely something you should try if you visit 2. if you can afford and can get a reservation, try to get in at noma 3. go to "torvehallerne" or "papirøen" aka copenhagen street food, wich both just are danish food mekkas where literally no matter what stand you go to, the food is great 4. try getting raw food, i know that it's not something you can only get in copenhagen but we're getting more and more raw bars and they're great, you should try either "raw 42", "palæo" or basically any raw bar at cph

You should make a point of trying "Æggekage" when you come to Denmark again, it translates as "eggcake" and it's a kind of scrambled Egg baked in a frying pan, served with smoked pork and garnished with chives and served with ryebread. There are local variations, and if you're in Jutland you should try eating lunch at "Hvidsten Kro" , they are famous for "Æggekage" with the recipe passed down at least 3 generations. That way you will get a good Danish dish and a dash of history added. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

In case someone hasn't mentioned it (Haven't read ALL the comments) is that remoulade is a picallily (finely chopped mixed pickled veggies, mostly cucumber and cabbage) mixed with mayonnaise. And yes, it's that tasty!

Try an oldfashion bøfsandwich (beef is minced) and brown sauce on top. Make sure that the beef, bread and sauce are homemade! At least the beef and sauce! You can usually get them, where you buy the hotdog. This can’t be eaten without a knife and fork! If you are on a restaurant, try flæskesteg (owenroasted pork) with everything. Which include at least two kinds of potato, something sour like “asie” (a sort of pumpkin) or cucumber and rødkålsalat (salad with red cabbage). Especially the sauce is great. Everything have to be homemade!

For the best hotdog in our capitol I would like to recommend the stand (pølsebod) at the back entrance to the central station near Istedgade. This is also one of the most unsafe places in our country, so be careful about pickpockets. But I personally feel safer here than in most other European capitols. As for "snaps" (our national hard liqueur), remember that it is usually drunk when eating pickled herring on rye bread. And we have this saying that you will limp if you only have one shot of snaps, so you are supposed to have at least two or any even number, although that is not enforced if you do not want to. In my opinion it tastes horrible, which is probably the reason most high-end places serve it directly from he deep freezer.

You should realy try Flødeboller next time you're visiting Denmark. You can buy them in almost every gro. It's a really popular thing among kids and grown ups. It's hard to explain what it is but it's a kind marshmallow covered of dark chocolate with a waffle in the bottom. And it's so yummy

If you are looking for good, danish pastries you should defiently visit The Old City in Århus (Aros)! Well, not only for the pastries but... I am proud to say that I have been working in the bakery that provided ther bakery shop(?) and even as being Danish many think that it is by far the best place to go for pastries and bread. Besides Århus (Aros) have alot to offer in terms of cultural and historic events and things to see!

I live in a small town in the United States. It’s very Danish. So much, in fact, that we have a functional Danish windmill that was brought from Denmark piece-by-piece. But do you know what the biggest tragedy is? While we have medisterpølse everywhere, we don’t have rød pølse.

If they come to Copenhagen they should really get one of those Öresunds passes, where they get 48 hours of "free" travel between Sweden and Denmark and also inside those to countrys local busses/trains... jump over to Sweden...see some of Malmö and Lund and the next day take Helsingborg and Helsingör(Denmark) and then back to Copenhagen for like 249(25 euros). (Cph - Malmö is like 13-30 min deppening on where you jump on/off the train) Malmö- Lund is 15 min, Lund - Helsingborg is 30 min and Helsingborg - Helsingör is 20-30(with a boat) and back to cph takes 40 min or so... so not really that bad and you get a lot for your buck

Denmark is a lot more than hotdogs and smørebrød. You should try the old-fashioned danish restaurants with the traditional menu. Try "forloren skildpadde" or " brunkål med nakkekam" or "flæskesteg med rødkål og brun sovs" or " skipperlapskovs" or "flæskesteg" or "fiskefrikadeller med remolade" .....enjoy. I can recommend restaurant Brødrene Price.

I can't help myself. Though you might be back in the US now, I'll have to correct/enlighten you regarding the "beef tartar". It is in fact smoked salmon and it's delicious. I take it from your comment that you steered clear from it thinking that it was raw beef, but if you are to return, please taste it :) From all the smørrebrød it is the most aristocratic :D

Besides all the healthy stuff that's everywhere, I loved the burgers and fries. You'd think it's too American to have while on vacation, but they were so good! I was taken to Halifax. But, when I was there, I had mashed potatoes with my burger. Fresh herbed butter and cream. Otherwise, Scandinavian fries are the best! I hate salt, but the natural sea salt actually tastes good.

I enjoyed these video's of Denmark that you made. If you can, you should try and come to Denmark near Christmas and have a traditional danish Christmas dinner. You won't regret it.

yeah bro do the hot dog! not the boring french american one but the danish one with grilled sausage not boiled! all the condiments! its fantastic! in olden times the red colour meant that it was weeks old piggymeat unsafe for consumption but because of the nitrate it tasted better!

I love this almost german food culture like bound sheep rectum with mayonnaise and bacon served with cinnamon bread and rotten herring. Denmark has the whole scale from traditional food, sea food, french style culinaries, pastries and trendy vegan greeneries type of food. Mostly it is fat americanish food, creamy ice creams and hundreds of local beers and liquors . It is something for everyone. Lately the country is drenched in Asian Top Michelin Resturants. Denmark will always be associated with Red Hot Dog

Next time you come to Denmark do you have to try ( flæskesteg med det hele ) roast pork with it all, That means: red cabbage, potatoes, Brown sauce, Brown potatoes ( sugar caramelized )
