Sure, but not really. You wouldn't have a meal for the price of the burger he had at any restaurant unless it's a McD, Burger King or a local Grillbar. But the portions are small at streetfood and most cafés for sure, and would be more expensive to have the same size of meal . :)

Fun fact about the Wiernerbrød/Danishes: We call them Wienerbrød due to the baking method and dough which is indeed from Austria, and was brought to Denmark by an Austrian couple way back in time, who then started taking ideas of using the dough and method to make wienerbrød which causes a huge commotion due to its popularity. Not all the recipes were Danish made but a lot were born in Denmark.

Thanks for visiting! Just discovered you but I love your bubbly and bright positive attitudes towards different cultures already. I live in Copenhagen, and I must say that you missed out on some historical things that might have changed your perspective on our city a bit - we have tons of intriguing castles and stories behind buildings, churches, food etc, that I think you should totally come back for to experience as well, perhaps with a local guide, someone that just knows the city well. I've got quite a few international friends on my own, and although they all hate the cold I have successfully gotten a handful of them to come see me here anyway... May, June, July, August, and December are prime months here - it's beautiful and sunny and the weather is just perfect for going sightseeing most of the time (christmas is just magical though, lights and people singing and being joyful with families on the streets) Anyway, my point is that you should come back to see the more "refined part of Copenhagen" - although it was of course super cool to see you explore the more raw culture. All of my friends said they loved Copenhagen and were surprised by its many stories, beautiful churches and nature. Can't wait to see more from you two!

There are many taverns/tavern-like places that has affordable really good traditional Danish food. 200 kr. would cover a 2 or 3 course meal in many places. If you visit the west coast of Denmark there are many options, and you can experience the unique beaches, nature and weather. But remember to dress appropriately. So, not sure whether someone else responded to you guys regarding this but for the wienerbrød conundrum. Basically danish bakeries had a strike around 1850 and was forced to bring in bakers from other countries, those countries including Austria. These bakers came with their own traditions and improved upon them while working in Denmark and that's how wienerbrød came to be. Wien = Vienna. Brød = bread. So the term danish pastries might be from our danish reputation from pastries but we didn't even invent them in the first place!

My first thought, before even watching it is, "I wonder if Nate will eat every Danish danish that he finds." He'll be in sweets heaven! 😂

I love traveling and trying the local food. My primary travel buddy doesn't enjoy trying anything... His diet consists of McD's while traveling. Perfect example... We went to Prague while with work. I ate at an amazing restaurant for breakfast. The most incredible omelette with fresh ham, spinach, and a side of fresh bread. The smell of the bread is how I found the place. HE ATE AN EGG MCMUFFIN.
