I live in Copenhagen and actually never tried the food from any of these places - but you definitely inspired me to try them :D I will say though... Try smørrebrød from small shops or even some of the supermarkets, not the really expensive restaurants, 'cause they are more authentic to what we Danes would actually eat :) Great video!

For peoples information, cafés and streetfood places in Denmark are pretty exspensive, compared to alot of "normal" resturants here :)

Sure, but not really. You wouldn't have a meal for the price of the burger he had at any restaurant unless it's a McD, Burger King or a local Grillbar. But the portions are small at streetfood and most cafés for sure, and would be more expensive to have the same size of meal . :)

@@mayner17 You can go to Refshaleøen outdoors street food which is closed in the winter but should be open by the time you arrive here. You can also go to Copenhill (a building where you can ski down, pretty expensive tho). I would recommend going to Louisiana museum of modern art, although it is pretty far north of Copenhagen. Check out Christiania, Nyhavn, Nordhavn (for bathing), Amalienborg, Marmorkirken, the canal tour (Nyhavn), Strøget, Rundetårn, Vor frelsers kirke and Tivoli. If you want to go for a nice walk, there is Dyrehaven (Forest) where you can see lots of deer and also an amusement park :)

Fun fact about the Wiernerbrød/Danishes: We call them Wienerbrød due to the baking method and dough which is indeed from Austria, and was brought to Denmark by an Austrian couple way back in time, who then started taking ideas of using the dough and method to make wienerbrød which causes a huge commotion due to its popularity. Not all the recipes were Danish made but a lot were born in Denmark.

if you like coffee, don't go to Denmark, go to Italy, or Austria, or anywhere on the Balkans. The coffee in Denmark is terrible (but they don't know better). It took me a year in Denmark to find a place with a coffee that is deserving of its name. Not to mention the cheapest "espresso" costs as 2 more fancy coffee options in other countries.

Thanks for visiting! Just discovered you but I love your bubbly and bright positive attitudes towards different cultures already. I live in Copenhagen, and I must say that you missed out on some historical things that might have changed your perspective on our city a bit - we have tons of intriguing castles and stories behind buildings, churches, food etc, that I think you should totally come back for to experience as well, perhaps with a local guide, someone that just knows the city well. I've got quite a few international friends on my own, and although they all hate the cold I have successfully gotten a handful of them to come see me here anyway... May, June, July, August, and December are prime months here - it's beautiful and sunny and the weather is just perfect for going sightseeing most of the time (christmas is just magical though, lights and people singing and being joyful with families on the streets) Anyway, my point is that you should come back to see the more "refined part of Copenhagen" - although it was of course super cool to see you explore the more raw culture. All of my friends said they loved Copenhagen and were surprised by its many stories, beautiful churches and nature. Can't wait to see more from you two!

Copenhagen is crazy expensive. Especially all the hipster places. You should try more old-fashioned food, outside of Copenhagen. There are many taverns/tavern-like places that has affordable really good traditional Danish food. 200 kr. would cover a 2 or 3 course meal in many places. If you visit the west coast of Denmark there are many options, and you can experience the unique beaches, nature and weather. But remember to dress appropriately. Many Germans love it, and keep coming back year after year.

The Danish pastrys origin has a lot of versions! 1. It comes from a baker (don't remember his name)who went to Vienna and got croissants. he wanted to take it Denmark but knew that the danish people wouldn't eat them if they didn't have any creme or marmalade in them - therefore he got the idea to make a kombo of the croissants dough with the danes love of creme and he made DANISH PASTRY

I am so glad I stumbled across you guys. I love watching your videos. What I appreciate the most (and what I tell people who have never watched you before) is your attitudes. I know it cant always be good, but you both seem to be genuinely happy/joyful no matter where you are. The first video I ever saw was when you were on the Trans-Siberian Railroad, and you were so happy that you had hot water!?! I have to be honest, I fully expected you guys to complain about every little thing. But you didn't. I love watching you two experience new places. Thank you

Copenhagen is the best! Glad you ate a hotdog. I waited until our last day and have been dreaming about them ever since. No way to replicate in the states! The best food we had was when we ate at our former exchange student's grandparents house. Authentic and delicious! Love your vlogs!

When I go to Denmark, I get to stay with relatives (thank goodness). It's so expensive but at least you don't have to tip. I checked, each time I ate out, and everyone told me that they are happy with their wages. When do you ever hear that? I'm so glad you're enjoying your time there :)

So, not sure whether someone else responded to you guys regarding this but for the wienerbrød conundrum. Basically danish bakeries had a strike around 1850 and was forced to bring in bakers from other countries, those countries including Austria. These bakers came with their own traditions and improved upon them while working in Denmark and that's how wienerbrød came to be. Wien = Vienna. Brød = bread. So the term danish pastries might be from our danish reputation from pastries but we didn't even invent them in the first place!

I love traveling and trying the local food. My primary travel buddy doesn't enjoy trying anything... His diet consists of McD's while traveling. Perfect example... We went to Prague while with work. I ate at an amazing restaurant for breakfast. The most incredible omelette with fresh ham, spinach, and a side of fresh bread. The smell of the bread is how I found the place. HE ATE AN EGG MCMUFFIN.
