This industry is brutal for the Mink. I had a slight idea of how vast mink was still used in today’s market but really didn’t understand the number. I’m in emotional shock seeing this, whether or not to protect our population, if they weren’t treated purely as a product maybe they would not have been all or even partially affected by our pandemic. Minks bred at fur farms live all their lives on a very small space, usually in cages that are smaller than 0.5m2 each, what is cause of their unspeakable suffering. Compulsive behaviours of fur animals living in such conditions are common and stereotypical. Animals walk along the cage, catch their own tail, gnaw fur (trichotillomania), bite the trellis or the claws. Cases of mink cannibalism also occur. It is literally a hell for these animals. All fur farms should be banned across the entire EU and beyond. This is a disgrace for all humankind.

I'm starting to be confused on what is right and what is wrong in the mink culling issue! If you think about it... Similar thing happens in the philippines when there were an outbreak on our pigs caused by swine flu in some places and the government ordered an immediate killing of all pigs in the infected area, banned transport and delivery of pigs and pigs product and give warning the public on such incident which is completely understandable because it is food and the transfer and mutation is very high when human ingest an infected animal but in this case, minks are used for thier leather and it is not being ingested.. if ever the minks let's say have covid19 on them, additional caution can be applied so that transfer of mutated virus from mink to human can be avoided, why do you need to cull them

The whole ordeal just made it clear that mink farmers are emotionally stunted, simple minded hillbillies whose whiny pathetic cringefest we had to endure on national tv for like a month! "They are killing off an entire industry" was the only thing farmers could say. Because there really is no good argument in their favour. Being an industry is not inherently positive - human trafficking is an industry as well. So entitled. Good riddance. Furthermore, industrial farming lobbyists and Kopenhagen Fur have been pandering heavily to the centre-right/right political parties and gotten insane favours in turn. I live in the countryside surrounded by industrial farmers. They are some of the most cynical money-hungry people who, ironically, have very little respect for nature.
