Trip to southern Sweden - Öland, Kalmar & Kristianstad

Välkommen! A trip to Sweden is always a good idea in my view, especially (but not only) when you can drive there in a matter of hours. The difficulty can sometimes be having to return. There are so many things I love about our neighboring country, and since it was just a brief, five-day visit in the southern-most part (of a huge country, compared to Denmark), this is just a little taste of its loveliness. I hope you enjoy it, and keep in mind that any opinions offered here are simply my subjective, little musings based on a brief visit as a tourist, partly intended as ideas for other potential travelers, partly as vicarious traveling and entertainment. Your trip report was absolutely lovely. I adore your soft and poetic voice when you tell historic information as well as reflections of your journey. Your kind words about the Swedes and Sweden warms my heart as an expat living in California for more than 30 years. Denmark and Sweden are siblings in Scandinavia and we have so much in common along with Norway and our Nordic sister Finland. We tend to bicker sometimes like family members do but the love for one another remains. I have a feeling that you and your lovely family will be back in Kalmar again.

I love all of your videos. It is inspiring to see your knitting and feast on the designs and colors of your lovely sweaters. But my favorite are your videos of scenery. You take me to places I would love to go to, but will probably never get the chance. The colors, ocean, restaurants, shops, architecture and the addition of the lovely restful music you include are food for my spirit! Åh Helle♥️🤗 You're my favorite Dane! So nice to know You like my beloved country❣️Feels like we're sisters now 😂 and we both love knitting too. Our family love to go to Österlen, (eastcoast of the landscape Skåne) in the spring when it's less crowded. Due to our pets, mr Gustaf von Lasagne 😻 and our little puppy Lisa 🐻🤎 we go by motorhome and can stay where it suits us. ✌🏼Another plus is - I can peacefully sit'n knit 🧶🥢the whole time when we travel all the way from the archipelago north of Stockholm 😂♥️ Next spring we plan to go to 🇩🇰Fanø as well! I enjoyed your video.Thank you for sharing your experiences. I too visited Sweden for the first time last month (though I only really publicly documented the yarn I bought there!) It's very interesting that Swedes call ice cream "glass" because it was also known as that in English historically too...because it was typically introduced to the public served by immigrant street venders on small pieces of glass that were licked, and then handed back to the vendor!

How funny that you find that Swedes appreciate old furniture more than Danes! I felt that Danes and Dutch both appreciate old furniture way more than Swiss - here there is a very southern European vibe that likes shiny and new. I love old things with a twist...!

What a beautiful country. Thank you for taking us with you. That beautiful garden reminds me a little of a gorgeous garden on the Southern Oregon Coast called Shore Acres. The mansion burned down before I was born I believe but the gardens have been well maintained. I enjoyed them even as a kid. 🌷

So fun to see Kristianstad thru your eyes, where I worked at the University College for 2,5 yrs. We had a flat there as well, but seldom stayed there, since we preferred our country cottage. And when our children were really small, we actually lived a short while in Kalmar. It looked much nicer than I remembered!

Thank you for the wonderful views of Southern Sweden. We were there in 2017 - unfortunately our day in Oland was a very rainy cold day in October. As a knitter I guess you know Ullcentrum yarn comes from there.
