Whether you want to learn how to lose weight, gain energy, or simply feel better, clean eating can be a super helpful guide.
When I initially decided to stop dieting, eat better and focus on nourishment, I used clean eating as my guide (that’s where the name Clean & Delicious came from) and I’ve since had a lot of people ask me what exactly does it mean to eat clean.
Of course, ‘eating clean’ means different things to different people but ultimately, it’s a step by step approach to improving the quality of the foods that you’re eating so that you can be in charge of your energy and your health and in this video I am sharing MY definition of eating clean.

The main thing I love about your videos (besides being informative and straight to the point) is that thy do not have music playing over your voice. It seems most videos these days seem to think one must have some crap elevator music playing alongside the voice of the presenter. Thanks for not torturing us like that. Sitting her eating the lovely fennel orange olive salad from one of your videos. who needs to cook :) Raw is healthier.

For 4 1/2 years I’ve been dealing with autoimmune issues. After being passed around from doctor to doctor I was sent to a doctor who in January said to me...first thing is I’m recommending a transition into clean eating. I immediately did as I was told (my body felt like it was dying). Well here we are 3 1/2 months in and WOW!!!!!!!! In just months I’m living a whole other life! I’ve made it my mission to talk about clean eating (and it’s easy because most people can’t believe the change and immediately ask what I did) because I now truly believe cheap empty food is killing us.

Being a hardcore foodie - I live to eat 😀 - most times it pisses me off when people talk about healthy eating. But your channel is AMAZING!!! The advice is excellent - balanced and not extreme (no "give up carbs/fats" or "be veg/vegan/paleo/low carb-hi fat/"), your recipes are simple yet mind blowing and you are a very intelligent, smart, presentable and good looking woman. You have found yourself a subscriber.... And your channel only my second subscription ever. Keep the videos coming.

I like how you clarify that clean eating is not really a diet that we go on - but rather a lifestyle shift. Also, so true about the artificial sweeteners and flavour additives - I tend to eat a lot more of something if these are in whatever I'm eating. Thanks for sharing.

Same for me with t he artificial sweeteners. But I tend to slip into the 'it's free' mentality - so I can eat MORE (which, as we know, is no true!).

I am 100% on board with you on this! I decided to eat healthy about 4 years ago and the very first month that I excluded everything processed everything that was canned and remove all salt and sugar and white flour from my diet I lost 30 pounds. Yes you heard me right 30 pounds! Granite I was a big girl I was weighing 320 pounds with just a simple fact of just eliminating everything that was processed packaged and no lunch meat no cheese nothing that was processed I lost a lot of weight my very first month. I have lost a total of 145 pounds. I have a little more to go but I learn to eat a lot better and it's been 4 years and just changing the way you eat makes a whole lot of difference. I was a big catch up either and also pickles and now I cannot stand pickles or catch up and there's a lot of stuff I can't eat like lunch meat the smell of it turns my stomach some cheese I could tolerate not many. this is a lifestyle change and it is a lot better. I suffer from lymphedema of the legs and I noticed if I go somewhere and someone serves me something that is not a regular on my diet my legs show the results the very next day. but being a pastor's wife and we get invited for supper or lunch I can't deny so it is what it is period once in a while won't hurt I guess. Thanks for all the great information have a great day

I completely agree with baby steps. For 2 years I've slowly converted from regular takeaways, sugary drinks, dairy and lots of chocolate with little vegetables and fruits to high vegetable/fruit intake, low meat, no dairy, almost no processed foods, no sugary drinks, no smoking, low grains etc and feel way better. It's an ongoing journey and I haven't perfected my weekly diet just yet, but I'm getting there.

I want to thank you for another amazing video, Dani. I especially want to thank you for your always simple, practical, everyday advice that is not "preachy"...not judgmental...doesn't take a "side"...and most importantly reminds us that we don't have to be perfect...just headed in the right direction by first taking baby steps...and then by doing the best that we can. I have found your videos so helpful and inspirational that it motivates me to keep trying. So far i have really notice a difference with cutting out artificial sugar completely and just using real sugar, my cravings for sweets have decrease a ton and now when i have real sugar either in coffee or deserts all i need is a small amount to feel satisfied. Thanks for sharing your recipes, ideas, and thoughts.

Hey Dani! First off I want to start off by saying thank you. Thank you for creating a channel that one can actually learn from, make and enjoy the recipes, as well as feel great about what's going into their mouths and bodies. Your channel is awesome girlie! This totally changes the game on the way I look at food. I am on a journey of weight loss/ health rejuvenation and restoration. I am dealing with several chronic illnesses such as fibromyalgia, CFS, iron deficiency anemia, heavy and painful periods.....just to name a few. My quality of life has majorly declined within the past couple of years and I have no energy or strength. There are times when I can't even lift my head off of my pillow. I am in need of a major lifestyle change. I am a 42 yr old housewife and SAHM of 7 kids and I feel like an old lady trapped in a fat young woman's body! lol. I also am a culinary student at my local community college in Dallas, Texas. I love everything about food and want to help myself and others learn how to use food as medicine and as a way to help rejuvenate your body. You are gonna be my secret weapon in this fight for my health. I want to learn everything you know. I've signed up to your FB page and blog. Any wisdom or advice you have to offer would be a tremendous blessing to me. You just don't know how much you have motivated me to want to do better and try harder. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are fantabulous and I can't wait to see what else you do! In case you want to chat a bit more here's my email. Feel free to holla at your girl anytime! venessatalbert@yahoo com. I hope and pray to personally hear from you soon.

I would just like to thank you for putting this video out here, 10 weeks ago my doctor told me I was borderline diabetic, realizing I didn't want to end up like a friend of mine with missing limbs as well as all of his other health issues, I started looking around for answers to help me change my way of eating and living, I found this video and it made it very clear what I needed to do to change, simple and to the point, I admit it took some grin and bare it moments, however I began to love my new clean eating and I learned so much more about eating clean, just came from my doctor and she wanted to know how I changed everything, BP perfect, heart rate also low and down 24 lbs, now looking forward to my blood work! Thanks again, I look forward to more of your information on line.

I could not agree with you more. Last year I got a allotment and started growing my own fruit and veg. That was the start to my healthier ways. After awhile everything just fell in to place and the processed foods got less and less. Now I feel so much better after cutting out most of my processed foods. My arthritis is getting better, my skin is clearer and my hair is shiny. My hair has never ever in my life been shiny :) Thank you for all your tips and tricks :)

Hi, I am new to your channel and I enjoy the conversation about eating clean. Making a long story shot...5 years ago I started eating clean and it was amazing, I lost weight, felt great, and when I went for my annual physical that year I wish I had my Video camera with me so I could replay his reactions when he saw how my bp, cholesterol, blood, everything dropped from the previous year. My parents were and are very old, over ninety and needed me to help them while I was working 40 hrs a week, and taking care of my family. I had no time for me at all, and I resorted back to my old habits. Now I have retired from my job and I have one parent with me and can focus on me a little better. I appreciate my new clean eating family of friend I have found. ThAnk you

I think your "clean eating" idea is full of smart common sense. Ive been trying to eat healthy for a few years, and have cut down on meats and dairy to almost none, but the other day i ate at McDonalds, lol and had a big ice cream. I was with my nephew who just retired from the Army, so i thought to my self, "i am no fanatic", so i ate at McDonalds etc, etc, that night i was bloated and all gas, next morning I felt horrific, no energy. I felt like i had been hit by a truck. The older you get the more you feel the difference between good eating and really bad eating.

Dani, love your videos. I lost 35 lbs. a year and a half ago and it is my mission to not only keep it off but lose another 10 lbs. I have dieted all my life and am a nurse so know enough to be dangerous. I fell off the wagon over Christmas but have been back on board for over a month but not making any progress. I have RA but recently got off my medication which I am ecstatic about. I have almost eliminated gluten and sugar from my diet. I don't drink soda or use artificial sweetener. My only weakness is wine which I have also decreased significantly and only have a few glasses on the weekend. My fear is that I am headed to Florida for a month and don't want to fall off the wagon and go totally out of control, also I would like to lose that last 10 lbs. love your recipes. Have made the pumpkin oatmeal muffins, chicken and broccoli strir fry, and turkey muffins. They were all delicious. Please help.

I am 63 and somewhat overweight with a huge genetic risk for diabetes...I recently completed a "whole30" detox month and moved into a modified ketogenic diet...Have lost 22 pounds in 6 weeks, over 10% of my total body weight, plus I feel great with high energy and vast motivation...my life goal is 180 pounds (about a 40 pound drop), which I am pretty sure I will have completed within three more months....It is THAT EASY when you become educated about what inflammatory foods do to your body, your liver, your brain, etc...You are so right about people finding the right food restrictions that they can sustain...I LOVE my food choices, and I remember my bad choices with wistful fondness but NO desire to return to them (rather like college romances)...!!!

Good vid Dani. All of what you have said is true and I have taught this very thing myself. The problem I run into, and most likely the problem you will run in to here, is you loose over half your audience with your first step, "Cook as often as you can". This is commonly an issue for two reasons; 1) they don't know how to cook, and 2) they just don't like healthy food (ie veggies). When they face the daunting task of learning to cook first, then learning to enjoy the food you cook, it deters most and fast easy food on the street becomes more attractive.

It's important, at the onset, to be not only committed to the shift, but truly excited and looking forward to how amazing it is (and feels!) to eat "clean and delicious"~because it really, truly DOES. Not to mention what a creative and gratifying activity it is to literally feed yourself and your loved ones~on so many levels. I love clean eating because it eliminates the access calories that are present in processed foods. If you can get over the sugar and salt threshold during your journey to wane yourself off of processed foods, you'll increase your chances of not having a relapse. When you eat clean on a consistent basis, you tend to feel lighter and have more energy. Clean eating is where it's at. Great explanation of what clean eating is.

Wonderful video Dani. I was raised on a pseudo clean eating diet and still ascribe to it which shows in my general health as a now 61 year old (no hypertension, no diabetes, etc). I am still working on eliminating most carbs as I found that I shed weight easily when I do. That is a struggle for me. Please do a video on macronutrients.

Yesterday I managed to eat clean like chicken and sweetcorn, apples, bananas, nuts and chicken stir fry with rice. Then I snacked on dry roasted nuts and 2 yoghurt that has artificial colouring and sweetners. Im gonna stick to eating clean but I won't see it as a diet but a lifestyle change. Plus, I need to cut down on the binge eating's its getting out of hand. Good video.

I'm new to the channel, so I guess I should watch more of your videos before asking questions (you probably already answered somewhere else) but after seeing this I just wanted to ask anyway. What do you think of the 5:2 plan. I started doing it a few weeks ago and was surprised with the results so far. Mostly I was surprised with the amount of eating that was happening just out of habit instead of actual hunger. I cant tell you how many times I visited the kitchen only to remind myself I was fasting that day, and then discovered I wasn't even hungry. Especially early in the day. Next I wanted to ask about eating upside down. About a year ago, I started asking why breakfast should be small, and meals get bigger throughout the day. Personally, this left me starving at lunch, and once I ate, I was sleepy after, and always tired in the morning. Then I read your body needs most of its nutrition in the morning. So I started, when I got home from work, to cook my dinner in the evening (mostly stew or soup). But instead of eating it at 6 or 7pm. I would eat it for breakfast (a big bowl of it). Then I would make my meals progressively smaller as I went through my day. What I would normally take for breakfast (oats or Weetabix - I would eat before going to bed - or a small sandwich with peanut butter and honey). I found I slept much better, and didn't need to eat lunch at 1 (usually it was after 3 before I got hungry). But I also did not get tired throughout the day. The saying Lunch like a king, dinner like a prince, and supper like a pauper finally made sense. The reason I am asking is because I also read that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, also that because you are basically fasting for 8 to 10 hours I have read different views on if breakfast should be light or heavy because its break-fast (breaking a fast). So I'm a bit confused. Finally, I would like to ask, I see loads of videos encouraging oats for breakfast (which I do like), but as a change I like Weetabix. I never eat corn flakes or other cereals. What is the verdict on Weetabix? I obviously eat both with a fair amount of milk. I drink quite a lot of milk. 4 litres would last about 3 days (just for me). So I am looking for alternatives to my heavily milk based diet (which as I understand is mostly sugar anyway - don't recommend soy milk, its just gross - sorry :-) ). Also...Does heating milk in the microwave prior to putting your Weetabix into it count as cooking? :) If so then I definitely cook 1 meal a day. But to be fair, while I rarely cook myself, I do go to a nice restaurant and eat at least one good meal daily. By nice I mean not a takeaway or mac Donalds. A proper restaurant where the food is actually cooked.
