I may try this. I can do strict muscle ups on the bar, but still can't do one on the rings. Maybe this will help train the movement (I think it's a ring placement/stability strength issue).

+MrTouchFish Strict muscle up on a bar is far far more difficult than on the rings. You probably aren't doing a strict muscle up if you cant' do it on the rings

+MathMeansMore Man its possible i think. it depend on what is strict muscle up, if its slow muscle up i agree, because you dont have to worry about pulling the chest above the bar in ring muscleup. But when we talk about strict muscle up as very explosive one without any kipping/kicking and touching the bar by chest - the only think that is crucial is pullup strength - and its easier to pullup on the bar than on the rings. Thats how i see it ;)

Why would you want to learn the kipping muscle up? Strict > Kipping

+lolzroflcopterzzz If you're into gymnastics, some skills require transitioning from a dead hang into, let's say, a ring planche. The kip is just a tool to get to from point A to B, and I agree, it shouldn't even be a form of cardio/strength "exercise".

+lolzroflcopterzzz It's obviously to be considered a different skill and not a replacement. This movement is not about strength training, it's more about body coordination and learning the movement. It may help people to learn this first, just like momentum mucles on a bar are done 99% of the time before strict ones. Training is not always about strength. The giant for example is all kip but still difficult to learn.
