This march is also used by Chile’s navy. The beginning of “Heart of Oak” is also used for the Malaysian Navy’s march “Samudera Raya”.
@Danjori2 жыл бұрын
Very neat facts! I'll have to find the Chilean version
@YugyStudios2 жыл бұрын
I’ve also got to add that I found a vocal version of “Samudera Raya”, but only the instrumental version has the intro to “Heart of Oak”, based on what I found.

In actual fact this IS the anthem of the Royal Navy. The "wonderful year" referred to is 1797 which, if memory serves is before the RCN was started. The Canadian Navy shares many traditions with it's older brother the RN, not least in heroism on convoys during WW2!

They don't; that was a US carrier during a joint exercise. Canada had a carrier until 1970; HMCS Bonnaventure.

Yes it's a Royal Navy anthem however if you read the History of Canada's Navy it is the British who molded and born the Royal Canadian Navy and by tradition it will carry on Heart of Oak as the Anthem of the RCN.

@@1812AndMore I agree because Most of the Commonwealth Navies are part of the Royal Navy before until they separated and have it's own identity of their own country however they still carry the tradition of the Mother Navy.(Royal Navy).
