One of Dan Lok’s passions in life is martial arts. Like many young kids, after watching a Bruce Lee movie, it changed his life forever. At 17 years old, Dan started training in martial arts seriously because he was being bullied in school. It wasn’t long for Dan to learn the techniques he needed, and gain the confidence necessary to defend himself.
Dan has studied with legendary martial artist such as Bruce Lee’s original student Ted Wong (tedwongjkd.net) and Joe Lewis “The Worlds Greatest Fighter” (joelewisassociation.com), making him a second generation student of Bruce Lee - in Bruce Lee's authentic art of Jeet Kune Do (JKD). He's also a third generation student of Ip Man (Wing Chun Kung Fu).
Dan has also trained with other great instructors like Sifu Adam Chan (www.pragmaticmartialarts.com), Canadian lightweight boxing champion Tony "Fire Kid" Pep ( / pepboxing , and Octavio Quintero (www.theartofjkd.com)
For Dan, martial arts training permeates every area of life. It’s not a hobby, it’s a way of life, and it influences how he does business.
Martial arts gave him the confidence, focus, and patience to push through these obstacles and to keep fighting when he felt like giving up.

You are absolutely correct that the other KZbin videos misrepresent Jeet Kune Do. It's sad many people think JKD is a joke of a Martial Art.

I stumbles on ur videos by way of another sight I was on....n my brother being an avid jk student I've always been interested in both jkd and wing Chung..ive found ur videos to b the best I've seen so far n jave been studying them for a month or so..as a 40 yr old active skateboarder,I've found ways to adapt both to each other as far as footwork...i will continue to watch these videos and practice the techniques..keep up the awesome work, n also the way you explain the combos n training are the most informative so far..much respect to you n ur instructors for bringing such videos to the public and for keeping Bruce's fighting style and philosophy alive Igor all to learn..nothing but love n respect for all of you guys.

Keeping an accurate account of what JKD is about is so important. There are a lot of martial arts videos that are plain bad not worth the time of day. This is the second of yours I’ve seen and I see you come from a good place, using 45 degree angle not only for protecting yourself but using leverage, using their energy against them. This video is about immobilization yet you’re showing the importance of thinking ahead as to what to do afterword because the fighting doesn’t stop with immobilization. thanks for caring enough to share. Much respect.

I appreciate your videos and the training tips. I'm still at first form sil lum tao. But your videos help me out a lot personally. I thank you for your time and your students that help to show this is not easy as some may look. But great video. Looking forward to part3 of HIA . Keep up the great work all of you. 😎😎😎😎😎👏👏👏👏

Personally, I really enjoy and learn a lot from your JKD/WC videos, they're how I found you. It's a shame you even have to explain why you do them (seriously, why don't people understand they don't have to watch something they're not interested in? Make better use of your time than trolling, lol). I'm enjoying your non-martial arts videos now also. Much respect to you, Dan. You have a good attitude and work with a good crew!

One of my favorite videos! Simply because you Express your passion and explain why you share this info and techniques so freely. So, let's see if you truly do reply to all comments! I'm fresh to JKD. There are no instructors near me and no Wing Chun (specifically) instructors near me. I LOVE the philosophy of JKD and have applied a couple of these techniques to my martial arts already. The Tao of JKD from the Bruce Lee Foundation is currently being shipped to me. Do you recommend any books I read in addition? Also, a wooden dummy is in my near future! I need techniques for that as well!

I think my body suit with JKD, than any other martial art technique. what i love from JKD is : Power, speed, effectivesness, not to much style but deadly-effective. this is the simplest way to defending ourselves with martial arts. And the Good thing is... Dan lok give us the easiest way to learn, its so simple, effective, and easy to understand and applied.. Im also think, that bussiness should be this way too.. GBU Dan. Thanks

Good. You show something of your speed here and you use your strong upper torso to your advantage. Like your back fist. I did not have the opportunity to study wing chun, but I did catch some of its basic principles. My strategy and training was always to deflect the opponent's arm positions or attacks through very subtle deflections which when applied at the right spot, with little energy, completely throws off the opponents line of attack. This works well when one is not as strong on the topside. But it requires very good footwork, balance. Thanks.

Dan, I completely agree with you that JKD is misrepresented online. I've been studying Bruce Lee for about six months and been in official JKD lessons for three months with an exceptionally great Sifu who trained extensively under Jerry Poteet. Preservation of the real JKD is very important, these videos are great in helping with that goal. Keep up the awesome work!
