I think Dan Lok is one of the best martial arts instructors I have ever seen. He obviously knows JKD well and is dedicated to sharing his knowledge. Thank you for the excellent instruction. One suggestion, with respect: four letter swearing ruins the dignity of the art and the teaching. Your instruction is so outstanding that it just does not need to be brought down by crass talk. With respect... Thanks!

Hi Julisa, as a matter of fact it is possible. I'm with Sifu Dan's team, and I've been given the job of going through his fan pages to find 'the right people' that are serious about gaining his mentorship. If you're committed to learning from Sifu, I'll do my best to point you in the right direction. Please feel very welcome to PM me on Facebook: Beau Bessette

Enjoyed this segment, and chuckled a little, because in Isshinryu we do a similar grab, pull, punch, but from INSIDE the opponent's strike attempt. It would be so easy for me to translate it to your style. Love it.

You do it exactly we do in Wing Chun. Pull with the hip and have the individual stumble forward as you shift direction.
@toolband19927 жыл бұрын
This is similar to a Jut Sao (jerking hand) but you get a lot more power from this technique. I just wanted to ask as there is some controversy with this: people say they wouldn't use it in application as you're drawing your opponent into you - not if 'done correctly' like you are doing here. Cause you are not drawing him directly into you more just off-balancing him. Would you personally use this against someone on the street in a confrontation? Cause I would using the way you're demonstrating it. Thoughts, anyone? Thanks a lot. :)
@mikelao84345 жыл бұрын
Well it’s all about time and place for any kind of technique as you can see here if you find some one in the stance as displayed you can use it to end the fight. Although at this day & era there are a lot more methods available that are finally come out which are taught to do less damage & harm if you have the heart to learn them.

Sifu...I want to know what is proper stacnce means footwork...during practicing jkd gates. I doing the same as Bruce Lee bt my teacher tell me about its badsides. So please clear me that, because my 90% knowledge of Martial Arts are from KZbin. Because in the case of learning I follow the the sentence - " Absorb what is useful and discard what is useless". So, tell me am I wrong ?
@pascall95176 жыл бұрын
He's in a right side stance. It is kind of like footwork and learning these basic forms will do a lot of good for your balance and power. Someone in the wrong stance can be pushed over easily but in the right stance your feet will be planted and you will have much more strength.
@pascall95176 жыл бұрын
A good thing to know is that each stance has all have a left and right side except for the Horse stance. Here are your basic stances to learn: Side stance, Cat stance, X stance, Crane stance and Arrow stance. Hung Ga Kung Fu breaks them down well

They say with most Chi Sao drills in JKD, you must have the intention to push through your opponent. But you taught us here that a forward energy can be dealt with a Lap Sao. Is the forward force applied in JKD Chi Sao drills still good? Or should be refrained?
@sifushan4 жыл бұрын
When giving forward energy in chi sao, you are looking for gaps in your opponent's defense. Wing Chun chi sao is about sensitivity and Jeet Kune Do exploiting weakness in structure. A good jkd teacher will show you how, they can't tell you how.
