No experience with the Mountain 600, but I do have 10+ years with Danner hiking and work boots. And I would definitely recommend Danner. I mean my Danner work boots outperformed a pair of Salomon X ultra mid hiking boots. Not to go on a tangent, but I’m not impressed with Salomon. They are supposed to be slip-resistant, but are definitely not. Danners on the other hand can handle river rocks, mud, soap, oil and engine coolant.

Agreed. Best boots I’ve ever owned. The comfort is unmatched and the grip is superb. Durability has been excellent over 2 years of wear. 10/10 would recommend and will be buying another pair soon just to have another color because I don’t even need another pair yet.

Couldn't agree more! I am interested in the Enduroweave version. Do you have any experience with those? For the summer I am going with non-waterproof hiking shoes. I am testing five different shoes right now and will release that review later next month.

Wide foot people don’t bother with these. I’m returning a pair of size 10 wide. The toe box on these is narrow. I wore mine around the house and outside and they still are way too tight in the toe box.

That's a bummer, how wide are your feet? I have had a hard time finding new boots. I have returned 1 pair of Salomon boots in a wide size (too narrow), one pair of Keen Pyrenees (too tight on the big toe knuckle), Keen Targhee IV (too narrow), Keen Circadian Wide (fit a half size large), and now I am trying the Keen Targhee IV Wide ... I am going to wear them around the house for a few days ... I don't care for the foam outsole and they feel just a wee bit tight ... and there is just a lot of stitching - I much prefer the style of these Danners.

Thanks for this review! I went and tried on this exact pair at REI and man they were really comfortable. Now that I know what size I need the next challenge is finding my size in the color I want. I guess I'm a little late to the party because I'm having trouble finding the java/bossa nova colorway in any size.

I have these but with the Veg Tan leather version. Have really enjoyed them. Comfy out of the box, enough support for most hiking position and good grip. Feel very solid. Only big downside is they don’t breath very well and my feet get really hot and sweaty. I can’t wear them in summer. Late autumn/winter boot mostly for me. After five years they still are in good shape but the midsole starting to squeak and creek a little. I wonder if the suede version is more breathable.

There are 2 versions of this boot. The standard version and the Gore-Tex version. I have the gore Tex version and they are perfectly breathable the key is to keep the gore Tex clean and a good pair of light weight wool socks for the summer.

I have a pair, would never go hiking with them, too soft not sturdy enough for big hikes (climbing ect.). The sole is not thick enough for long hiking walks( they would not last a year), but they are damn comfortable no breaking period, they are so comfy you feel you are walking with a pair of slippers. They don't overheat but in the summertime they are hot (I live in a place where humidity is over 99%) Really like them but again would never take them on big hikes or in winter time. Mine never made noise...I thought it was funny that yours did!

Well, they’ve been the standard issue boot by the Marine Corps for 20+ years. I’ve personally worn them 5 days a week for 4 years on 3 continents with no issues. So not sure how they haven’t lived up to your use but they’ve been put through the wringer by thousands of service members with no issues.

I've had a pair for 5 years and have done some serious hiking/climbing/ hunting/bushwacking in them. I've taken them through some seriously harsh places and I've just now worn the insides out to wear they hurt my feet. No fault of the shoe just tons of miles. The outside and sole are still in really really good condition I can't imagine what kind of big hikes you've got imagined where these couldn't handle it

the comfortable synthetic material on the inside is actually the gore-tex lining- pretty cool!

Negatives: Heavy, sloppy no-structure leather, soft sole. Positives: no break in time, grippy Vibram base, look great. On fence about Danner Dry instead of other waterproofing. I don’t like sweaty socks even after a short hike with these. Not disappointed I bought them but would have bought another pair of Vasque or higher end Danners had they been available anywhere. Currently checking out Oboz but they didn’t order/produce inventory correctly either just like Danner and Vasque.

did not find them heavy compared to Oboz, Zamberlan, Keen Targhee III, Salomon 4D 3 GTX, Lowa Renegade, so I guess you have tender feet. I agree with you they have soft soles and not made sturdy but once you know this you take them out only when it will be a nice peaceful walk with the dog or short hiking trips.

Cool video, really comfy boots and good looking ... only issue they make you sweat, I have few pairs of Danner shoes and boots and these are the only pair that make me sweat, other than that, one of the best hiking boots

These have the megagrip compound from vibram and the fuga outsole. They were exceptionally grippy. I left them in south Texas so I can’t do an actual test, but I bet they would perform as well as any of the other shoes for grip.
