@Volksverhetz Danny Bhoy is a great example of an upstanding Scotsman. Some scots were from Northern Europe & walked here dry shod across a not yet existing North Sea 14,000 years ago. More Scots came from the Iberian Peninsula 8,000 years ago. We had North Africans who came with the Romans who also brought us Rumanian and Bulgarian stock. Vikings (Scandinavians), Normans (French), Angles, Saxons, Italians, Chinese, Indian, Pakistan all make up the country.This is Scotland & we love it.

@krashd5 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear it, friend :) Every society everywhere has it's share of delinquents and layabouts but Scots in general are friendly people, it stems from a code we have had that dates back more than a millennia - that any person in your "home" should be treated as a welcomed guest, even if they are your enemy. The 'Glencoe Massacre' in the 17th century where many of clan MacDonald were killed by clan Campbell became known as 'slaughter by trust' since one warring party welcomed the other into their homes believing their guests would honour the code. That incident turned the Campbell clan into pariahs as it was unheard of for a Scot to betray the code, let alone against fellow Scots. Sadly, this virtuous part of our history is not known to most modern day Scots unless they have taken an interest in their own history, as I do, but thankfully the idea that "every person in your home should be treated as a friend" seems to have permeated down through our culture to the present day. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and I hope you do come back and enjoy another.

That clip was of John Smeaton, the guy who stopped a terrorist attack in Glasgow in 2007. A terrorist rammed a car full of burning gas cylinders into Glasgow airport and upon exiting his vehicle - while he was on fire - John punched him in the face, padded out the flames on his burning clothing and then set about hitting him some more. His interviews became internet memes because in an interview he said "If you start that shite up here we'll set aboot ye!" 'Setting about' someone means jumping on and attacking them. Incidentally Jihadis never tried again, I imagine the image of a Scottish guy beating the shit out of a burning terrorist stuck with them.

I once went to Scotland and had a fantastic time. First of all, I was told that I was in for a great week of weather. There was no rain expected in the forecast. When people asked me at the airport where I was going, I told them that I was going to Scotland for a vacation. The first response that I got was "Do I have any relatives there?" I told them that I do not have any family members there. They looked at me and said "Then why are you going to Scotland?" I told them that I was going there for a vacation. The coffee and cream incident that I had at a local shop reminded me of a Who's On First skit by Bud Abbott And Lou Costello. I asked for cream in my coffee, and the waitress replied "Oh, you want white coffee." I said "No, I would like some cream in my coffee." She replied "Oh, you want a white coffee." I thought white coffee was something like white chocolate. I kept telling her that I wanted cream in my coffee. This went on for five minutes until I realized that white coffee meant having cream in your coffee. The waitress laughed at the situation. She knew full well that I was from Canada. I had many funny incidents in Scotland, and I would go back there in a heartbeat. Scotland is a great place to visit. There is a lot to see, and the people are amazing.

He is one of ma favourite comedians - didnae need the reference to tourettes which can be a truly horrifice and incredibly painful condition for people who are afflicted wi it and I believe not everyone wi tourettes has the coprolalia element but i could be wrong am no an expert jist know sufferers who have suffered fur years. However naebudys perfect least o aw me, n most folk urny really familiar wi this condition so mebbe don't realise the impact this cood huv on the sufferers. PLJFC

janet connor I agree. I saw Danny, live, a couple of years ago, and he was great. Comedians use several maladies to make a point funny, and because they can't get away with physical or developmental problems anymore (not politically correct...although it doesn't seem to have hurt Trump) they've switched to neuro-chemical problems, like Tourette's and ADHD. I have a son with ADHD and it does piss me off when jokes are made at the expense of kids with these problems, but it's unlikely anybody is going to stop anytime soon. But you are bang on - it's not so funny when you are living with it or have a child who suffers with it. Having said that, I still love Danny, all things Scottish (except the bar brawls ) and the bagpipes ! ....o flower of Scotland..,when will we see your like again. That stood and died for yer we bit hill and glen. Ahh..sigh.
