A doubletracked voice hides a thin-sounding voice and makes it sound fuller, and it helps hide the offkey moments. 2. If you listen very carefully between 0:40 to 0:47, you will detect some not-very-smooth manipulation of the pitch, literally by changing tape speed (focus on the instruments and you'll hear it plainly). Bigger labels did this much better and more imperceptibly, but Lion Records was a cheap-o outfit.
