Hello, I just want to say thank you. Haha. I can not tell you how many times I have played this video... many many hundreds of times... When my son was born in 2021 and we couldn't get him to stop crying, I needed a video that sounded like his Dad singing, so I searched bass voice Danny Boy (we like that song) and this video popped up. The second I would play it, he would stop crying. EVERY time. Haha. My daughter was born a few weeks ago, and today I thought, let's see what happens... Sure enough, she stopped crying and fell asleep by the end of the song. Amazing... hahaha. Thank you!!!!!!!! My children love your voice. 😂😊

This is fantastic! Defo more of a bass-baritone, coz that timbre belongs to a Norse warrior. ;)

I think you have a very beautiful voice, but why do you break such beautiful melodic lines to sing?
@charlesevans48853 жыл бұрын
Very few people can sing this without breaking up the line. They simply don't have the breath control.

Thanks for your kind words, and thats such an awesome question. I think you are referring to the phrasing choices. In this case It has nothing to do with breath support or running out of breath. My phrasing choices are typically determined by the text. In the phrase " Oh Danny Boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling" I am giving the commas the same attention that I would if I were to speak that line out loud. I always try my best to show the punctuation, sometimes with a breath, or other times by elongating certain vowels, consonants, etc.. A great exercise for this is to speak the text as a monologue and try out different speaking cadences and inflections. Once you determine how you want your personal phrasing to be, try adding it to the vocal line. This particular arrangement is very free, I can make lots of choices without disturbing the piano or cello line. I find that when i do this kind of work, I can really leave my own personal mark on the song - giving my version its own unique flair. I hope this answered your question.
