Harry talks with the great and highly influential psychologist Danny Kahneman, who won the Nobel Prize for his groundbreaking work on irrationality and the deep flaws in human decision-making. Along with two co-authors, Kahneman has recently published a work on a whole new source of irrationality, namely the “noise” that results from variability in a wide range of judgements that we wrongly consider to be objective. Kahneman considers noise to be as significant if not more a source of flawed judgments as bias, the source of his previous works including “Thinking Fast and Slow.” In this wide-ranging discussion, Harry and he discuss the concept, its origins, ways to reduce noise.

This book is HUGE. The commercial consequences of noise over time is massive. It is largely ignored and not even spoken about in the corporate world.

Thanks for this interview. I think the interviewer was nervous interviewing one of his heroes, but Danny was patient.

The word noise threw me off. But as we go along it's falling into place nicely. Especially in relation to the law.

Great interview. This man calls it noise and I call it chatter. I make better decisions by not engaging with the chatter.

What is the "correct answer" around which the "Noise" is clustered and from which the bias deviates, in this theoretical framework? How is the "Bulleye" determined? Who owns the definitive viewpoint here?
