Danny MacAskill Tests Santa Cruz Reserve Carbon Wheels

“If it ain’t broke, go break it” has been the principle objective behind our wheel development program from the start. Danny MacAskill was the first rider to get a pair of Reserve wheels and did a lousy job of fulfilling that objective. He filmed the entire “Wee Day Out” video on one pair, and only needed to tension the rear wheel spokes a quarter turn throughout the entire shoot-no mean feat considering some tricks took over 200 attempts to get right. So we sent Danny back out there, this time to downtown Glasgow… and this time we insisted he found us the limit.

THIS is how a product placement/review should be. I love that Danny isn't trying to oversell them. He just very clearly states what the goal of the day is, and then proceeds to REALLY put the product through the test while also having fun doing it. This was fun to watch and informative and most importantly didn't make me think I was watching an add. Well done!

Really? Homophobia after watching a guy ride his bike around? Use that hateful shit somewhere else...I can't help but merely feel lucky that I get to watch a rider like Megaskill. I was already a fan, but the creativity that he has been showing for a while now is awesome. I almost got physically ill watching the video he did on the spine down the middle of Skye; his level of dialed is hard to even imagine; must less try to work how he manages to pull off some of what he does. The front flip onto a plyo-ball and onto a RR track in Imaginate is pretty much easily one of the coolest and most challenging tricks I have ever seen or expect to see in my life. His precision is just amazing, and a lot of people could take a tip from him on how to be a class athlete. Cheers!

People prefer aluminium over carbon because if/when the wheels go, they bend and don't snap into oblivion. There are huge advantages to carbon rims of course but people don't want to use their faces as brakes when their carbon rim collapses in on itself.
