Most accurate comment I've seen yet. I previously owned the gopro 10 as well and that mf cannot even record indoor for no longer than 20 minutes while the AC was at 70 degrees. I live in AZ where it would shutdown in under 10 minutes if record under direct sunlight inside a car with the AC giving it some airflow, but with no luck whatsover. People can say all these things to make people get the gopro over tha action 3, but in reality they've never actually experienced how having unreliable action camera can really ruin your experience because you're not able to catch those important moments. what's the point of an action camera if you can't even record no longer than 10 minutes under direct sun light or under 20 mins outdoor with some airflow. There's literally videos of people overheat testing them and the dji takes it easily in all conditions.

Hi Uncle Blacky. I had the Hero 7 and worked really until it fried. I wanted to buy the Hero 11 but GoPro won't sell it online to Puerto Rico but yes to US Virgin Island and I didn't wanted to buy it retail price. I say "DAMM YOU GOPRO" and bought the DJI OA3 and it was delivered really fast. A few weeks later and I'm satisfied not only with how it works but the DJI service. PS. I bought the one with 3 batteries and the big selfie stick. 👍

I use both the Hero 11 and the Osmo Action 3 and both have pros and cons. What I love with the DJI is the natural colors coming straight out of the camera and which are so more true to life thanks to the HDR mode, way more so than on the Gopro. The 10-bit HDR mode is extremely capable at facing direct sunlight for example, whereas the Gopro can capture stunning footage as it is excellent at capturing lots of details, yet it has a tendancy of adding a weird pinkish tint to your footage which is not so pretty / unrealistic looking. But again, an excellent travel companion and I'm glad to take it with me for solid footage. I still like to use both. Main differences I would say are: the colors (truly natural looking on the DJI thanks to the HDR mode) vs more cinematic on the GP, the resolution and the frames per second. Overall usability is way nicer on the DJI. Would be great to see DJI come up with a 5K/60 camera to be perfect. The DJI has an edge on the colors, the Gopro on resolution and framerates.

Absolutely right! I like GP11, but it has a really terrible color with a touch of magenta/sometimes extra yellow. The sky is always dirty and always like a smokescreen. Damn shame.

The dji also has longer battery and wayyyyy more reliable camera that doesn't overheat like the gopro does in under 10 minutes if placed under direct sunlight and I'm speaking from experience. Dji wins easily here and I think gopronfan boys should realize how overheating can literally ruin your experience when trying to capture those important moments. 😮

Right the action 3 needs somewhere to put the microphone with the current case. Battery box with three batteries is great, plus the magnetic mounts which is awesome. The battery charger on the go pro is absolutely rubbish and runs out quickly. Action is way cheaper. In my view the action is better at this time Go pro will have to raise the bar….

Amazing video. I still use my max camera for multiple behind-the-scenes shots. As a standup comedian, I love using my Osmo action three as my main camera. Because I don’t have any other devices that shoot 4K right now. I love the camera for that reason. And again the sound quality on Osmo action three is much better than the other action camera. Both cameras are indeed amazing in their own ways. Don’t know if I like the 4/8 aspect ratio. As I just added straight off camera using LumaFusion iOS app.

The Action 3 works great for motocross. They are easy to use and the mounting system is excellent. The action 2 remote selfie stick also works with the action 3 which is really cool and it will turn on multiple cameras. My only complaint is that the DJI breaks up the files into 6 minute files instead of one file. I have 2 Action 3 cams and they work great for me.

Super agree with this. I had both cameras and I enjoyed using the DJI Osmo Action 3 more than the GoPro Hero 11. But ended up selling the DJI just because it is easier to match the GoPro with my Sony cameras. But yeah, can't go wrong with any of the two.

I promise you'll regret selling your osmo action 3 if you ever try to film in extreme heat/cold conditions. Trust me the gopro cannot record longer than 10 minutes under direct sunlight whereas the action 3 easily can. Don't get me wrong, the gopro has a better all around quality, but I don't think I can get passed the overheating issues and not being able to record longer than 10 minutes under extreme heat conditions which is such a deal breaker.

@@NikoBols for sure if you're only using the gopro for short footages then it's fine, but just don't get confused when it automatically shuts down on you when you're capturing those longer family moments. I tried to use the gopro 10 inside a cockpit learning to fly for educational purposes and could not even go pass 15 minutes under direct sunlight with strong airflow from the cabin to keep it cool or help heat dissipate. So I sold it and never looked back. Best decision I made was to get the osmo action 3 and that thing never failed on me. Will def get one for a family member especially with the huge price difference and no overheating such a game change

Only because I like the vividness of the picture quality. Also, the audio is as good as the audio on my iPhone. GoPro has always had audio Issues. Always quiet and always sounds a tiny bit muffled. DJI always has great audio from Osmo, action three.

I have a GoPro 10 and when it works it's really good. But there's too much wrong with it.......bugs/over heating/locking up etc. For the cost it shouldn't have much wrong with it. DJI stuff works with hardly any issues, so i'll go Action 3 soon.

im torn between the 2. the Hero 11 is currently on sale for the same price as the Action 3 but the DJI is on back order 3-4weeks. I'm only looking to use the camera helmet or chest mounted while riding dirt bikes on the track and on trails, not vlogging so audio isn't a concern. Any recommendation?

I just got my hero 11, and the battery lasts no where near as long as my 9 with the same settings, and it loses 10% battery overnight is this normal?! I tried factory resetting it made no difference. Wireless and gps are turned off

1: My February 2023 build date DJI OA3 has PERFECT focus. 2: The combo pack is just way better value for average user. 3: If you''re uploading to KZbin the 5.3k resolution benefit is seems negligible (to me). 4 Although I haven't been to the Sahara or the Arctic, every time I turn it on it works.

Just curious about the battery life comparison. Did you use the GoPro's Enduro batteries? Some reviewers have claimed that those have vastly improved since the older versions. Is that overhyped?

Yes the hero 11 comes with the enduro and when shooting at the same resolution and frame rate you get about 20 mins more on the action 3, however you make a good point about the enduro that it would most likely last longer in very cold environments which I’ll test out this winter

Danny, I gotta ask as far as dark rides at Disney. What are the best settings on the GoPro 11 Black for rides such as Pirates of the Caribbean and The Haunted Mansion for pulling video? These are pretty dark rides, you know? One concern is for ISO max for night video is ISO 800. U think ISO 400 are better for these rides?

So right now I generally walk around with my Action 3 on my head as a truck driver. As someone who spends hours everyday wearing a camera on his head, the action 3 doesn't tire my head via (GOPRO's head mount). The GoPro makes my forehead hurt after about 7-8hrs which by many of you guy's standards is great. So when it comes to work, I find myself wearing the Action 3 (to also mention getting videos off the Action 3 to my Android phone is Soo much faster then GOPRO's Quik app. The Action 3 is so dam convenient, I don't even look for the other two batteries my adventure combo came with because it charges so dang fast. Where I reach for my GoPro is for my motovlogs. GOPRO's 1080 resolution on my opinion just looks better then DJI's. Which is the resolution I record my Moto vlogs or my electric scooter videos in. Also, I use my GoPro for any type of vehicular or moto blog or any wheel'd activities because of the telemetry data that you get from the GoPro that the Action 3 doesn't offer. If I had to give one of my camera up forever which would I give up? Hmm lemme think about it.

Y'all do have some great polar pro lenses available and rig setups y'all could use for the iPhones. I know you guys are limited by storage space which is why I usually prefer using another camera instead of my phone UNLESS...your iPhone is strictly a video recording phone and isn't being used as your ACTUAL phone.

My Gopro 9 just died for no reason at all. I’ve never ever submerged it in water or hammered it in anyway. I’ve missed tonnes of footage where it didn’t even bother to turn on and I have to take the battery out and put it back in…I mean .. What is this? I love the detailed footage on Gopro and seriously don’t think the DJI is better in this aspect. But there are so many other cons for the DJI. I would have to favor GoPro for the simple reason that I am a Samsung User and DJI favors apple when it comes to apps and app updates. Also, GoPro seems more consistent and invested in the space and less likely to abandon the product line, including firm updates and support.

I would disagree there. I know that DJI with their drones in a few instances has abandoned certain software options for Apple but released them for Android. I don't imagine there's favoring in either direction, rather I think it's probably just a random case by case basic thing. They can be a little unpredictable. But alas, I suppose that's an argument for GoPro in itself.

@@DanielCrist I could be biased, because I bought a DJI OM 4 Gimbal when it first came out, and I probably used it for a little over a year, when they stopped supporting the app for Android, and the functionality started decreasing. It is very buggy, and updates are scarce and few. I still use it but I primarily use it with the native camera app, which decreases some of the functionality. Live and learn, but I will not be buying another product from DJI, knowing that in as little as 2 years it can become obsolete.

As an ACTION Camera outdoors w/ movement involved, the GP Hero "shouldn't" overheat for its intended purpose. I use my GP Hero 11 and Hero 11 Mini for Offshore Fishing, Diving, etc. It has never let me down, the battery lasts over an hour shooting in 5.3K at 30FPS, and the 8:7 sensor is amazing to capture everything up to Superview. The focus compared to the DJI is closer, so if you see anyone who tries to vlog w/ these cameras, the DJI will be slightly out of focus unless you have long arms. What's your ambient temperature and your full settings (including common like bitrate, 10bit, and other settings like wifi/gps, etc). Please share your experience in more details as some swears that it cannot past 10-20 mins but you can do 1 hours. Please enlighten those people!

I think most of people use camera to record holidays and how user friendly is camera will be more important. Second things is quality of recoded video. Most of people watch videos on phones/ tablets. 5k is not necessary.

Have had a number of GoPros over the years the Hero 9 sucked and ended up getting a hero 11 to replace it (despite my better judgement). I have a number of DJI products but didn’t get the Action 3 , maybe the 4 who knows.

Is it a coincidence a few weeks ago many YT’ers changed their tune on DJI A3? Like it was a concerted and intentional effort… I’ve not seen one video where the larger sensor A3 captures more and lower noise light than the supposedly lesser 11. And the flares that the A3 has in sun…that even my original OA doesn’t have…😆 C’mon. Then I see people say “Look how wide the A3 frame is vs the 11…umm…stand back more and with the 5.3k resolution, reframe and zoom to adjust and have more resolution to show it with less image quality loss. And then with the narrower fov, you’re getting something better suited for vlogging too in my opinion. Crop in if you want. Do the same with the A3= lower resolution than the 11. I’m after quality images…including that stack of stills called video. The dynamic range on the 11 is better too. There’s more data to work with. To each their own. The A3 is an all around good product it seems, especially for the money. I think right now the 11 has the edge. I still use my OA but it’s a backup now. I also enjoy the DJI Mic which seems to be one of the best out now so it’s no bias against them coming from me. I do see a lot of people changing their tune on the product in unison though. I don’t care for that.

Unfortunately, you didn't make my choice easy 😅. sometimes you say gopro is better, sometimes dji. A lot of people write like this, highlighting (or exaggerating) the disadvantages: dji has a problem with automatic exposure, dynamic range killed by contrast, problems with video compression; Gopro has problems with overheating, freezing and distortion. The advantages also do not make it easier: dji is trouble-free, no problem with overheating, long battery life, better phone application; gopro has a very good dynamic range, not much worse than the hdr mode in dji, which does not affect the resolution and fps, many interesting modes, video quality a little bit better. It is hard for the user to immediately say what is more important to him, although I thought that in 2022 such defects should not be in cameras from companies that have been dealing with this for a very long time😵.

all the DJI video quality is soft and most of the time it is too dark and black out the shadows. dynamic range is not good.

I didn't realize that the Action 3 was this good until this video. Still doesn't beat out what the GoPro Hero 11 offers from my standpoint, but brings it much closer to the level of the Hero 11. Maybe you could get DJI to give you one of those to give away! They don't want only GoPros given away on this channel, do they? Haha

​@@JimyOfficialin the camera itself, just two things - those are the ability to do 5.7k at up to 60, and the full frame recording which allows your to record everything the sensor sees and frame it later. This might not seem like a big deal, but because the sensor isn't actually taking in a rectangular image, it's actually cropped in no matter what ratio you have a normal camera set to - therefore GoPro had to engineer a special setting just to save the video in this manner, and it gives you much more flexibility in editing. However, the main advantage I see GoPro having, it's more about it's ecosystem, in that 1) you have a much wider range and selection of accessories, and primarily 2) you have access to GoPro's subscription service, which allows you to replace 3 cameras per year for any reason and gives you some pretty big discounts for accessories on the GoPro store. The first year is super cheap and they often package it with an insane discount on the latest GoPro for first time subscribers. Granted, these things don't put the Hero 11 miles ahead of the Action 3, with all the innovations DJI has made, but nonetheless, ahead - for me personally, at least.

Went with GoPro 11 for my vacation…scared off by the Action 3 focus issues. Maybe they will get it right in the next generation. For me, no problems at all with the GoPro. I carry two extra batteries at any one time. GoPro is a decent choice even in the extreme heat of a Philippines vacation. My word of advice to purchasers-don’t let the reports of overheating sway you.

I'm curious that it's mainly fishing guys who overheat the camera 🤣 . I think they need to be made aware that when a gopro says it's an action camera, it means a little more action than the one that happens while fishing, why no complaints from chess players😂

I would rather go with the osmo action 3 only because I would not want to risk of overheating in under 10 minutes in direct sunlight with no airflow. Gopro sucks and will always be until they fix their overheating issues. They need to get on osmos level with battery management because having a unreliable camera is a big deal and you can't argue that. You can argue that it overheats because it is an action camera, but not everyone is going to be riding bikes like you with all the wind/ airflow coming to cool it down😮 So stop being subjective and think about the camera as a whole package and the osmo easily delivers that due to the fact that the little thing does not overheat even with direct sunlight with no airflow to cool it down. You made no point at all because the action 3 can actually be used in any conditions compared to the gopro and that to me is a game changer.

@@sinigangpapi3379 show me the reason why a company with much more experience with sensors and professional cameras made a product that dynamic range is equal to cameras such as hero 6? why does the exposure go wilder than any other DJI product? what if dji knows as much as possible and more about filming from gopros and yet gave a product that you have to fight to have a bearable image, which is still oversharpened and you can't do anything about it? sports cameras are not car cameras or classic cameras and phones at 4k 60 can overheat faster than hero 10. dji took a lot of time and more experience with this matrix to get it right, in addition they released a defective product, to this day people get cameras with focus issue. the question is whether this is why action 3 can withstand, because there is less image enhancement processor, which results in a worse image at the expense of battery and temperature, the question is what is more important?

This gen winner is GoPro with 8:7. I'm sure Dji will come out with the same spec action cam for the next iteration. It's game changing for content maker. I'm waiting for DJI next gen.

The one major benefit I find with the GoPro 11 is that if you shoot video in the 8:7 format the Quik app allows you to change from say linear to Hyperview, even after you have taken the video. It means you can shoot in this one mode and then change the lens setting in the app after you have taken the video. So you can then take that one video and render different looks from the one video eg one render saved in narrow lens, another render saved as linear lens, and anther render saved as Superview etc Super handy feature to create different looks after the shot has been taken
