As the other viewer, I also find that your videos are the best with regard to someone new to the hobby. You are a great teacher, and explain everything with detail, including things others just seemed to assume we already knew about.

Congratulations, this must be one of the few heli related videos with 0 dislikes. What is it with people disliking heli related videos? Thanks for your lessons. They are very helpful for people like me who dont have a club near by.

pitch curve in the radio 0-25-50-75-100 that will give you full positive pitch, full negative and 0 pitch at mid stick on the simulator. and you want to run throttle curve of flat 100% all the way across for the stunt mode switch, if your setting it on a real helicopter make sure you have a normal pitch curve and throttle curve set up too.

Hey Danny, just wanted to add that your videos are awesome..I have watched a bunch and your's has made a lot more sense. I have recently jumped into collective helis, started with a Blade 120SR, now with a Blade 130X and a Align 450 DFC is patiently waiting. Tired to jump too quickly (went from a Blade 120SR to a Align 450 and after first major crash I took a step backward and bought a Blade130X. Once I master the 130X I will feel much better about bringing the 450 out moth balls. Thanks again, Ken

a 450 that is setup well is allot easier to fly that a 130X, the 130X does have the durability factor and its not intimidating so its not a bad place to start if your 130 is flying well. once you get good at the 130, flying the 450 should not be a breeze as long as your not scared of it. keeping calm and cool makes you a much better pilot. i am glad my videos are of help and you are welcome

backwards flips, than rolls, than loops and than inverted hovering nose in. that is the order i would suggest to do it. and than work on the rest of the inverted hovering orientations and than inverted forward and back wards flight.

I think they do. I used to fly them back in the day & the rotors dont spin until you throttle it up. I did get alot longer flight times, 12-15' or more depending on flight style & heli. But they are harder to maintain & get oil everywhere. The elecs seem to spool up faster & much easier to maintain, & cheaper to repair - only real negative seems to be such short flight times!

Danny I watched this video to find out how to get my remote into stunt mode and what I figured out on my own was the throttle curve setting on my remote was at zero% and had to change that setting before I ever realized I could fly upside down! and make sure your heli is 3D

@Twistid26 that is why i made videos like this, i have not watched many really helped new people learn, nor did they explain why things are important to learn, i have a friend that can flips and roll his helicopter, do rainbows and tic tocs, ask him to fly simple circle around a field and well he cant do it well... allot of pilots don't take the time to learn and or master the basic flying skills that are going to lead to excellent control of your helicopter in any situation

I'm new to the "sport" and I find that your videos the best. Which simulator are you using? I'm pretty confident in my skills but your tips and videos saved me some money. Simulator time would help speed things up. Thanks. Keep it up.

as far as i know that transmitter will work, i am not positive but from what i understand You can disable CCPM mixing on that radio by reversing the two switches under the left battery after you do that i hear its good to go for phoenix. if you don't put the switches back before you fly your helicopter though or you will probably loose control..

Danny quick question I took a very long break from a gas chopper and was thinking of getting back into the hobby. I just got RF Evolution simulator and I was wondering do these practice skills translate into running something like a real Trek Heli?

How do you set your remote for less sensitivity when you are closer to hover or closer to zero stick action you make this look so easy!
@Danny-Lightning-CSR
@Danny-Lightning-CSR 9 жыл бұрын
+joshua wilkins you can change the expo, that will make the sticks less sensitive around center stick. i would just edit the model that you are flying on the sim, go into the settings to edit that model and raise up the expo.. you can raise the expo on your controller too but i prefer to do it on the sim so its set on the sim so each aircraft has the amount of expo i want it to have.

Danny, jumping into collective helis has been a steep learning curve. It took me on/off for a year to finally learn to fly the 120SR with good success. Collective has been a whole new learning curve. The 130X has been a good learning tool as it helped to understand the D/Rs , Expo and Curves in the radio (using a DX7s). The 130X has the blades set at 15+- degrees so I have had to learn to adjust in the radio. I really don't have that much air time as of yet with the 130X but I have been hitting the sim when I have free time which is helpful..One issue for me has been with the increased head speed..once you get over that a lot is possible.

15o is allot of pitch. 12o or 12.5o is the most i like to run on any helicopter, if you get a huge amount of pitch it can easily bog your motor down and the helicopter will loose head speed, especially on smaller helicopters when flying aggressively. i remember when trying to flip the 130X i had the motor seemed to bog easily. on the 130X set it up like the manual says and than your throttle curve, pitch curve, dual rates and expo are really all you need to worry to change it to your liking. the standard IU pitch curve for any helicopter and just about any radio is 0-25-50-75-100, zero on the low end is maximum negative pitch, 100 on the high end is maximum positive pitch than you usually use our FBL unit to adjust just how much pitch you get at positive and negative. you also want to have 0 pitch at mid stick. i cant remember how to adjust the amount of positive and negative pitch you get on the 130X, i did not have mine long. throttle curve i like to run flat lines so something like 80 all the way acorss or 92 all the way across example 92-92-92-92-92 on the throttle curve. a higher throttle curve will make the helicopter more aggressive and it will also make it feel more stable. i think a high throttle curve usually is the way to go, than adjust the amount of pitch, your rates and expo till you get the helicopter to feel right to you. some people use a v curve for the throttle which is fine to, something like 95-92-90-92-95 expo i like to run 20-30% on cyclic and 40-50% on the tail. expo will make the controls feel less sensitive around center stick. on a spektrum this would be positive expo, on a futaba you would use negative expo to get the same effect that you get on a spektrum with positive expo. things like this is why i say all radios and brands are different. if you use negative expo on a spektrum its going the make the controls super sensitive around center stick. example. a very small stick movement will make for big reactions from the helicopter. with positive expo it will take a bigger stick movement to get the helicopter to react fast. but you never want to run to much expo. 30% on cyclic and 50% on the tail is the most i positive expo that i would ever use on a spectrum ratio. to speed up and slow down how fast the helicopter spins in a piro you can also use rates for that but do not, i use travel adjust on the rudder channel in the radio to adjust the piro speed. on the cyclic i use rates, but travel adjust for the tail. i don't know why but my tail feels better using travel adjust to slow it down compared to using rates to slow it down. turning up the rates will make the helicopter feel more twitchy, turning them down will make it less twitchy and less aggressive to your stick movements this is how i look at it. higher rates make it flip and roll faster, lower rates it will flip and roll slower. i guess you can now leave long comments here on youtube. i absolutely hate what they have done to you tube recently but i do like the fact that i can leave a long comment. now that i know this if you have any specific questions now, feel free to ask. i guess i can explain this stuff to you here.

@Danny-Lightning-CSR

get version 3 if it cost less money than version 4, updates are free, so if you get version 3 you can update it to version 4 for free.. i would suggest buying a nice radio and phoenix, if you get phoenix with the radio the radio it comes with is junk and cant be used for good helicopters because you cant program it.. if you get the version with the radio just remember that is a throw away radio once you start flying collective pitch helicopters.

I have been learning to fly on the Blade 200S ..I have the orientations down.....but was wondering if there any stunts I can try practicing at the field with this FP heli...if I start up high and get some forward speed going , can I do a simple loop, if so what exactly do I want to do with the collective stick ...thanks...
@Danny-Lightning-CSR

Fixed pitch really isn't made for sport or 3D flying. If we're able to get upside down without changing the pitch of the blades it would get out of control pretty fast and probably crash

i will say newer fixed pitch helicopters that are flybarless like the 200 s, i don't know much about them and i dont know anyone who owns one.. so if they are able to do loops im not really sure how you would go about it. when i was getting started fixed pitch was not a flybarless heli and it was not possible on those.

I am probably going to give pulling a loop a try.....I plane to get it up very high with some forward speed and hold full up elevator ....the " expert" mode has no self leveling on the 200S , so I'll try it in that mode.......

I am using phoenix rc fligth simulator. there are other simulators that are good like real flight and neXt but I prefer phoenix, there are a couple of helicopters on phoenix that feel extremely realistic to me, a few of them that feel horrible and a bunch that are pretty good. not sure what it is about the other sims that i do not like but they almost feel video game like.. some people feel one of the others are more realistic but I do not agree with them.. but phoenix, neXt and real flight are all good though, with phoenix when there is a new version you get free updated to the new version and you do not have to pay for new air crafts either. with real flight they charge extra for updates but you can download models that other people have made for free, some of which are great but allot of them are lousy. not sure if updates cost anything on neXt, I have flown that at my friends but I do not know anything else about it.

i don't know any thing about nitro or gas powered helicopters besides i think they are really under powered and they get great flight times, they also make a mess. i only fly electric, everyone i know well that flew nitro has changed to electric as well.. sorry but i cant answer your question... i have no clue.
