Nice reaction to Tori and James Wilkas. Jim produced this video and played multiple instruments. The band was a mix of musicians from the US, Australia and Canada. As Ron said, she has a timeless voice and primary sings songs from the 1950’s - 80’s. With a few modern ones like her originals. She also never uses autotune or pitch correction so what you hear is her! Running the original was a nice touch. You can hear the similarities and also the differences. She isn’t trying to mimic, that’s her voice. She also has a wide range from alto/contralto to soprano. This song showcased her lower register. Her Suddenly cover with Dan Wesley shows her soprano register. She’s a rabbit hole in the making. Joe

Nice touch playing the original since you hadn't heard it. I'm always looking for Carpenter/Holub reaction videos. My favorites are the ones by people who knew and loved Karen Carpenter. When I first heard Tori I was emotionally shaken to hear my favorite singer who died so many years ago before her time "sing again." It was like she was alive again. Anyway--thanks for doing this song. Good luck on your channel.

The Carpenters were perhaps biggest brother/Sister vocalists of the 1970s, so many great songs. Tori is re-incarnated Karen, no doubt. Her voice is beautiful. She jus started singing like a year ago

You might like to know that Tori has studied to be a sound engineer. That was her original career goal. Now, about a zillion people want her to continue with her singing career. Those people would include Richard Carpenter, Karen's brother, who sang with her on the original song.

Karen would be a good deep dive for a musician not familiar with her. One of the best drummers ever and certainly an influential, famous vocalist.

Thanks Danny for your honest reaction. This is just an unusual cover because I and many others consider it to be a reincarnation of sorts. Karen Carpenter hasn't been around for decades as she passed away from anorexia in her early 30s. Tori is the first to practically reproduce the sound of Karen's voice and fans are thrilled with that. We have missed that in our music today. Tori has other carpenter songs, other covers from artists like Olivia Newton-John and Ray Charles and more. She also has a few originals. At about the same time Abba was blowing up the charts in Sweden, Karen and Richard Carpenter were doing the same in the states. We also have ingrained in our psyches the tragic end of Karen, who passed away from complications of an eatng disorder at the age o 32. You are the first reviewer who has said that Tori is darker and fuller than Karen. Maybe that'a juar how the vocals were layered, but I'll leave that to an expert like yourself.

Jim heard a short clip by Tori and dragged her into this performance because of the resemblance. It was not Tori's idea to be a Karen copycat.

Copy cat, absolutely not. But finding her hero, yes. Tori has covered many Carpenters songs, some full length, before Jim was introduced to her by KZbin. Tori’s first love were The Beatles, then she started exploring the 70’s. 😊

@@jbs256 Yep, Tori's voice is Tori's, not Karen's. She sings many non-Carpenters songs including Olivia Newton-John and she has an amazing voice. Frankly, I prefer it to Karen's...blasphemy.
