Thanks for the video. It is interesting to see a comparative review with the new BCA FLOAT™ E2 MTNPRO AIRBAG VEST 2024!

How does the protection compare to a Klim Tek vest paid with a standard Klim Avy pack? I am debating switching from my Tek Vest setup to this new pack for added mobility.
@DaveNorona Жыл бұрын
Well I prefer it over a tek vest due to the tec vest being way more restrictive so its a balance of what you prefer really more protection usually means more restrictive and less restrictive means less protection, some hill climb guys wear super small tec vest which offers less protection so they can have more freedom as it is mandatory to have protection in the races. So it really is personal.

For long term storage (summer months), should the capacitor be fully charged, or not? Batteries removed?
@DaveNorona Жыл бұрын
batteries removed and at the start of the season you will have to charge it longer for the initial charges for it to get back into its cycle.

How long will the capacitor hold charge with no AA batteries in it.

This is a great question, it will go more than a few weeks without the batteries in it, there is not much power going out of the capacitor when it is on, just one small led and the battery lcd screen, but in all honesty for the last two seasons I always just have batteries in it and it goes for a month even if you leave it on. Again no drainage due to only led light and lcd screen. It is when it is set off that the battery power is used. In my personal opinion it is easy enough to charge over night or every few nights on a trip and or just have the batteries in it. cheers dave PS looks like i have to do a test!

I bought the vest a couple of weeks ago, and fully charged the capacitor and left it for 24hrs, and it was half drained when I turned it on. It would set the pack off when pulling the trigger, I just thought it would hold charge longer.

@@curtisbiederman701 charge it or put batteries in it and it will go for a month unless you set off the bag. batteries weigh nothing so there is no reason not to have them in there and when they are half done use them for non important things and put new ones in. The ability to have three pulls in the backcountry and test the system all time is the huge advantage over anything else

Thanks for the video, Dave. Video just shows everything so much better than still photos. Will mention that you didn't show the zippered, radio-body storage compartment at the top of the pack. I'll also noted that you say, in this and your previous videos from previous years, that the Alpride system uses Capacitors. They use Supercapacitors (also called Ultracapacitors). Capacitor is not shorthand for Supercapacitor because Capacitors and Supercapacitors are very different. Recommend that you change over to using the correct term which is Supercapacitor which is also what Alpride and Klim both use in their literature, tags and on their website. ...Besides, you say "super" in this video a couple dozen times (except in from of the word "capacitor") so should be an easy transition for you. Ha. (I know I can rib you because you can take it). Thanks again for the video!
