these videos are awesome!! thanks so much Dan, really appreciate the tips. balanced teams are my favorite too, I like having a good safe swap but am not as much a fan of always immediately switching like in abb style, I think it’s nice to preserve ur pokémon and play out matchups sometimes

I usually pick my safe swap last to also help cover other weakness. Picking you safe swap before your back pokemon may lead to you changing it to cover both.

So it's okay to swap to your C instead of your B if you think your B would do significantly worse than the C against what you see?

What are the differences between safe switch and cover?

If you have a bad lead and switch into your cover (covering the weaknesses of the lead) for the opposing pokemon, the opponent will switch into its own cover for your cover and you'll end up in a bad matchup again. For this, you have to take out a safe swap, which is a pokemon that is kind of a "alternative lead" which can deal with most covers that the opponent can throw, being able to either deal shield pressure or big damage to the opposing pokemon, opening the window for your either your cover or lead to have a better lineup against the opposing pokemon.
