I love their soft initial hits in the cold months. So hard to differentiate between hitting rocks or having a fish on sometimes (shoreline fishing with jigs). I'm sure it's similar from a boat. Love the videos!

Haha you got it exactly and it is definitely the same in the boat... sometimes you feel nothing at all and you simply lift the line a bit to hop it off bottom and you feel dead weight. I always tell people it's like reel in a wet tshirt lol!

Sweet Jesus, I thought the truck was going to start floating, but he handled it. Thanks for the tips and tricks, appreciate the time you take with explaining all aspects of catching giant Walleye. Mark is stealing your thunder today.

Mark is hilariously blunt and doesn't screw around, even when it's my truck lol! And yes, he wrecked them... there is a reason he is one of the best fishing guides in Canada!

Congrats on your PB walleye Dan! I had a day like that last spring on Lake Champlain... good day of fishing for sure

Thanks Phil, it's always fun landing a new PB. The best part is we went out the next day and I caught another new PB AND we caught an absolute MONSTER fish, I'll have the video for that up in a week or so. It's the biggest fish ever caught in my boat. I can't wait to get back on Champlain, what an amazing fishery when you get on the fish. My PB smallie is from there!

A lot more fun pitching your jigs for them that's how we do it on the Missouri river here in North Dakota

Hi Tim, can you link me to a video of what you mean by pitching jigs for walleye?

I don’t know if I missed it but what depth is best for early April like weather 😅
@DanRichardFishing Жыл бұрын
It really depends on water temps and where they are feeding. You honestly need to work anywhere from 6 feet to 30 in my neck of the woods :)

So do you let the wind push you around an you control where you wanna be an straighten out with the trolling motor ?
@DanRichardFishing3 жыл бұрын
The best thing to do is actually put your boat where you want to start your drift and see how the current and wind moves you. you'll get a sense of which direction your boat is going in and then you simply adjust it by watching your line. You want to stay vertical with your bait as you drift so the best way to go is watch your line in reference to where it is next to your boat and control the boat with your trolling motor to keep that line in the same place the entire time. So sometimes you'll use the trolling motor to slow your drift because you're going to fast or sometimes you'll need to speed it up if the wind is going against current. You can also experiment with pointing your nose in a certain direction be it into the wind or to the right or left of the wind direction to compensate for where your boat is drifting to. It takes practice but the easiest way to learn is to watch your line and always keep it in the same place next to your boat and use the trolling motor to adjust. Hope that helps!
