Hey, Katherine! I sell scrubs/medical shoes for a living. I’m sorry you had this experience with Dansko… whoever sold these to you didn’t educate you on how to wear Dansko. The company recommends, quite like contact lenses, that you slowly break in their shoe. Wear them for a two or three hours then switch back to your normal shoe of choice. Every day, increase the amount of time you wear them. Wear them around the house… do your laundry in them.. vacuum the living room. Slowly break the leather in. Also, Dansko’s are handmade in Italy. You can try on 3 different pairs of 38’s and each one might fit a touch different. You should try again! That pair just might’ve been too tight for you. I wish I would’ve fitted you and sold you a pair.. give ‘em a chance again. They’re a great product. They correct the way you walk and stand and take pressure off your ankles, knees and hips. The key is to slowly break them in. If that isn’t for you, maybe you like the instant gratification of memory foam lol.

Think of it like a mattress. A soft foamy mattress feels so good as soon as you lay on it, but in the long run, it doesn’t support your spine the way a firm mattress would. That’s how Dansko is. It may take some time, but it’s better for your feet and joints even if you think your foot anatomy is ‘weird’. I

As a former nurse, and now a podiatry student who wore Dansko, I can tell that you didn't try them on in store did you? I think that's the biggest issue at hand. Dansko is a tricky fit and if you don't try them on making sure that the band of leather at the midfoot fit snug, you will have this problem that you had. If you bought the 2.0 like what your video suggest, I highly recommend you take the insole out. It is possible to do with the 2.0 Dankso clogs and I believe you will get a much better result. Do let me know how it goes! :)
@Katherine_Ann2 жыл бұрын
Hey Rathvitou! You are correct that I did not try them on as Dansko sent these to me for free in return that I make a video of how it goes 😊 Thank you for the tips though! Hoping it will help others out there too!

I have been wearing Dansko clogs for the past 10 years of my nursing career and love them. They are the only shoe that has helped my sore feet. However, I just got a pair of Hoka’s and I will be trying them on this weekend at work. Hoping they are just as good for me as Dansko’s are.

I have wide flat feet with bunions. I love Dansko for their arch support. My feet definitely are swollen after a long day of procedures but I think if I wore compression stockings (which I don’t) my feet would probably be less swollen.

Same. My feet hurt soooo bad after wearing mine for a full shift. They’re just sitting in my closet now…

Its usually a fit problem. They should be tried on in store for perfect fit. A pinky width between heel and back of shoe. Correct positioning of the arc support, plenty of wiggle room in toe box. USUALLY the issue.

Dansko clogs need to be broken in. I also have high instep, so I bought a shoe tree that opens top to bottom to stretch the instep. It became comfortable after 2 days of stretching. Dansko clogs fixed my lower back pain after I got use to it. I wish I could wear it outside of work lol. Maybe go to an official store and try out the sizes to get a better fit one without the need of shoe tree stretching. wish you the best.

I agree, they absolutely need to be broken in. That's great that you had success with them helping your lower back pain. Thanks for watching!

Clogs are great shoes, but I agree with the nurse, the full clogs hit the same bone, but the slide-on clogs do not have the problem. But Dansko clogs have excellent arch support. Clogs are back in style. Boston clogs are very popular gen z

Maybe that the single chunk of PU foam doesn't do much molding. I hope everyone here has had a chance to experience boots/shoes like Nick's or JK (their forefronts are amazing). They are comfortable after the stacks of leather inside, mold to your foot. They have softer white outsoles too. I can stand on concrete for 12 hours a day, and use them in the gym too. They last dozens of years of worn indoors - especially hospital floors. PS. never break in a shoe while working!

I tried Danskos years ago and by hour 4 going up and down halls, rooming patients, just your basic med assistant things, I was limping. So much pain! I went back to my Brooks. Now I wear Balas and are very happy with them (but not the cardio workout I go through to get them on).

I’m glad to hear I’m not alone in my thoughts about Danskos. I have high arches, as well as very narrow feet, but these Danskos have a crazy high arch. I can’t imagine that anyone with a flat arch could even tolerate them for 1 minute! I have gotten used to them, but don’t wear them everyday. I switch off w/ running shoes. The tops of feet at times hurt, too. I’m disappointed as this shoe is pretty expensive not to fit/feel right...even after it’s broken in (I’d say a few weeks). I’m really curious as to what kind of foot works well in Danskos!!

In my opinion Dansko style clogs almost just as that's bad to wear on your feet as Dutch wooden clogs. Even if they're different materials they felt uncomfortable on day one. They are both heavy. Last of all they both feel better the longer you wear them.
